The reason there are so many adverts for ringtones on music channels now is because artists make more money from them than singles sales.

Singles sales used to be a huge market, but now that album prices are (on the whole) coming down more people are buying albums. Singles sales have dropped dramatically in the past few years, to the extent that several record stores in my area stopped stocking them to free up space for a biger selection of albums.

Ringtones are the new singles. It's only a matter of time before there's an official ringtone chart.

This has gotten out of hand, it isn't just annoying anymore, it's enfuriating.
