YouTube outage blamed on Pakistan

I was. As soon as I uploaded my Sins of a Solar Empire video to youtube... it went down.

I thought I caused it.

Yes. It had been routed to youtube.com.hk, which I found odd.

Thats what they get for hosting a cartoon! :sniper: Kill those who insult islam.

Didn't affect me. I'm too sexy for my shirt too sexy for my shirt you spin me right 'round baby right on elf food baby.

Seriously, let's bomb Antarctica so this never happens again.

Antarctica is the herpes that is scratching the world's mangina! :frown:

BOMB THE SHIT OUT OF IT!

Seriously though, if the Pakistani state telephone company can break one of the biggest sites on the net, you can't help but wonder why this hasn't been done on a bigger scale (i.e. more sites) yet.

Because not many governments want to do it.

This seems almost too easy . . .

But anyway, in the process, Pakistan got themselves kicked off the internet for a while.

i don't know if that's a good or bad idea?!

there will be less religious lunatics on youtube in the short term, but fewer might get educated in the long term. but since if they didn't learn nothing until now they'll probably never learn so yea...i don't give a shit

It would probably take all the wealth of Pakistan to repay the money lost by youtube in one hour of downtime.

So true!

This is amazing. How one country can easily hijack a site like that, which means theoretically it's possible to do so for any site. Can you imagine the White House site being redirected to .. :0

Pakistan lifts the ban on YouTube

Pakistan's telecoms regulator has lifted the restrictions it imposed on video-sharing website YouTube.

The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority has told internet service providers (ISPs) to restore access to the site, according to a spokeswoman.

Google, the owner of YouTube, confirmed service had been restored in Pakistan.

Hooray.
