I woke up this morning and my razor mouse's light was on, meaning my mouse was on. The comp was off. :dozey:

*Head explodes into a fine mist of funneh*

Some motherboards still output 5v (I think) when the PSU is powered. I know on one of mine, the keyboard lights still work even when the PC is off.

My old computer does that. There is an option in the BIOS to turn it off, though I forgot what it is called.

Yeah, the PSU is still outputting power while the computer is supposidely off. I've had computers where the mouse stays on or the keyboard while it's off. I do wonder how much power it's cosuming when it's in this state. The PSU on mine is stays warm even when it's been off for like 24 hours.

Generally there is some power to the board even when the machine is off. That way it does not die with repeated on/off like light bulbs. I guess some boards send power to the USB as well.

All powered electronics work like this.

There is current until you unplug it, and even then, it can hold a charge.

If all powered electronics worked like this then every mouse would be on all the time. This isn't a matter of holding a charge. An LED being lit would disperse such a charge. This is taking power that the motherboard is providing it.

But if he unplugged the mouse and THEN it still had a light -- dude, get the hell out of your house now!!

I just meant that when powered lectronics are plugged in there is pretty much always a current running through it, be it small or insiginificant.

In the case of computers, it can have functions like my keyboard power on.
