Zelda: Twilight Princess -All Known Information And Movies-

Man it must have been a long time since I played it because I dont remember links body morphing/transforming into any creature in oot.

He never did morph into anything in OOT. He did in Majoras Mask though. And i think it was a link to the past for the snes/gba where he morphed into a rabbit.

So you're saying that some parts of Twilight Princess look graphically similar to Wind Waker?

If so, I can see where you're getting the impression. But to me, it seems that both WW and TP's visual styles are both derived from OOT's, rather than consecutive evolutions, each drawing on the evolutions of the previous iteration. Both of these OOT "sequels" seem to take OOT and greatly increase the overall detail, only WW took a more cartoony, anime-inspired route, and TP is taking a more Lord Of The Rings-esque "realistic" style, while still retaining a fair portion of OOT's quirkiness.

So many acronyms...

I keep forgetting MM is a part of it, the timeline is really confusing, especially with the whole business of Termina being a different world or whatever.
No wait, WW was after OoT right? Doesn't make it confusing at all actually...
Same order as they were released?
I dont have a clue what I'm talking about.

This helped me in my desicion to buy the Nintendo Revolution. Backwards compatibility is gonna rock!!!

Are there gonna be any noticable differences between playing this on the game cube compared to the revolution?

There is no official timeline yet. I'm sure there is one slowly forming, especially since OoT where a storyline really became apparent.
There are several theories floating around the net and I reccomend you track them down because they are all incredibly fascinating. One of my favourites places the Great Flood right in the centre of the timeline and still manages to make sense.

Bah... I can't find it. The official Zelda forums get through about 7 or 8 pages in a day even though pretty much every thread has 6 pages. It's crazy.

I'm really excited about the storyline in this one. If it takes place between OoT and WW, we have a pretty large plot-hole seeing as the prelude to WW says the Hero of Time did not stop Ganon from causing the floods. If it is in fact after WW, it will only be decades, because the person in charge of the project says
It takes place a few decades after (at this point he either said Ocarina of Time or Wind Waker, but due to dodgy translation, nobody knows) and will answer a few questions about the series.
This means we will found out how the flood receded. And it may also explain what happened to the Ritos and why we never see them in any other game. And Valoo...

It's all too confusing for me.

I doubt it, the Revolution is going to have 4 GC controller ports built into it. But I was on the verge of buying a GC for this game, RE4, and some other titles, but now I'll just buy the Revolution to play them all.

Are you sure these games will work on the Revolution?

If Nintendo says the Revolution is backwards-compatible, I have a tendency to believe them. We know for sure that it'll be a better system than Microsoft's, as there's no chipset change between GCN and Revolution (it's still IBM and ATI), whereas with the Xbox360, MS has moved from Nvidia and IBM to ATI and PowerPC or whoever makes their new chips.

I'm sure. Here is a pic of the Revolution's four GameCube controller ports-

Excellent :) - nice to be sure I can still play all my old GC games when it's time to upgrade.

I would have thought you, Warbie, would have been the first to know that? :hmph:

I'd read that the Revoltuion would be backwards compatible - but didn't know it was confirmed.

Good news :)

Most backwards compatible console ever ;) Although I hope Nintendo think retro too.

Actually....great Revolution slogan:

Backwards Compatible : Forwards Thinking

Anyway, we are going off-topic here....

You do know it will be able to play ever Nintendo game to ever come out right?

But will it really?

If I wanted to download and play Duck Hunt, or Punch Out, or any of the other 100 games I want, would I really be able to?

It sounds great, and I really hope it's true.

It will be able to play them, yes, but will all the publishers actually allow their games to be bought? Nintendo would have to give them some of the $$.

Nintendo are the publisher for all Nintendo games.

I was going to buy a GC for the new Zelda, RE4 and Ikaruga, but might actually get a Revolution now(depending on price/release date). Of course, if the GC is <$99 this holiday season, then my mind will be made up :)

Maybe. But look at it this way. Those publishers aren't making any money on those games anyways. So they should be free. To answer the other question, yes the Revolution will play all Nintendo games, don't worry.

this game is the only reason i havent sold my gamecube. Whens the release date? i couldnt find it on any of those links

In time for Christmas. And it's a simultaneous (sp?) release all around the world. I can't wait :D

I'm sure the Rito and Zora are connected, theres that one Zora who is related by blood to Medli, so I'm thinking when the Flood came, they evolved. Maybe re-evolved again afterwards? Sounds a bit stupid though...

I don't think even Nintendo would do something like that. My one guess is that the Zora are still living under the sea during the grat flood... although you do see a ghost of one.... bah...way too confusing.

Actualy thats always how I saw it especialy once I met the Zora sage.

Could you perhaps point me in the direction of said flawless emulator? I also have my '64 and both Zeldas, but my controller joysticks are all completely borked.

You can play them both on the GC if you get the copy of wind waker with the gold bonus disc. It came with OoT and MM which is pretty cool...

The bonus disk only came with OoT and Master Quest. If you wanted MM you needed a whole new Gamecube package.

Oh rite, my bad. Still, Ocarina was always the best one anyway :)

Agreed, but not by much - MM was excellent :)

There was a Zelda Collections disk you can buy that has all pre-WW Zelda games on it bar the handheld versions. And it has a demo of WW, which eventually persuaded me to buy it. 'Twas a good decision. :E

I didn't think that disc existed outside of Japan. I would kill to get one.

i have it, there was an offer where you bought some of the classic GC games(i got Super smash bros and metroid prime) then sent in the receipt to ninty and they sent you back a collectors edition disk :D

Oh, now I remembered why I got a Cube... TBH, the Cube is more fun the the Box... in my experience...

I can't wait.

Yes, and unlike alot I did not particularly like MM to much. I found it to be more like recent mario games, or wind waker then oot. It had alot more immature, unrealisitic, kiddie things in it. Transformations into silly creatures, being a little kid that finds silly masks, etc etc. OOT so far, is the best game in the zelda franchise. Make a poll on any site, and 99% of the time a majority of people will agree.

OoT is certainly the most popular, and quite possibly the best, but I will always have a soft spot for LTTP. I also greatly enjoyed WW (bar some of the annoying sailing) and think it's easily one of the best games to come out this generation.

When it comes to pure fun, though - none of them beat 4 Swords :)

Zelda owns.

I don't know how you can say that the trasformations in MM were "silly." The things you transform into are the staple races of the world in which Zelda is based. OK, admittedly the Deku are a tad silly, but both the Goron and the Zora are worthy of any Final Fantasy game. I am playing Majora's Mask through for the second time, and it is actually a lot more fun than OoT. If you don't want to do a temple, you can pick one of the sixty odd sub-quests, and nothing can beat rolling around Termina field at high speed as a spiked Goron. Also, the masks add a wonderful dynamic to the game. They give you something to collect that will help you later on. I imagine in that respect, the game is the most item-heavy of the Zelda series, and while most masks are used once, they are quite a fun visual odditiy. For example, there is something strangely surreal and humourous about triggering a serious mini-movie whilst wearing a transvestite fairy mask. In the end, all Zelda games have had some sort of gimmick and I haven't seen people complain about many others. Majora's Mask will always be one of the most controversial Zelda games, but I for one will defend it until they someone can prove that masks are a bad influence and are the cause for teenage drug abuse.

EDIT: Reading back, that was quite a long post that didn't make much sense, but you get the idea :p

I refuse to argue with people about a game being childish/silly or not, when they think theres nothing childish about a game having cartoony graphics, transformations into trees, and kiddy scripts. If this is the case then in your opinion, you should beleive cartoons like scooby doo, and the flinstones are just as much for adults as the shield, or sex in the city.

It's never as simple as that Smack. What would you rate Akira as? or any other anime geared towards adults?

There's no line where a kids game becomes one for adults. OOT is certainly no more grown up than WW - infact, apart from the style of gfx, they couldn't be more similar (in terms of characters, plot, dialogue, gameplay etc etc they're one in the same)

What about The Incredibles? - an excellent movie that was heavily marketed towards children. I certainly wouldn't consider it a childrens movie though, just as I wouldn't consider the Simpsons for kids either (despite how 'kiddy' it looks)

You remind me of a friend who wouldn't play Viewtiful Joe because of how it looked. More fool him for missing out on one of the most challenging and enjoyable games of recent times.

I had a friend back when I was 10 years old who wouldn't play Mario 64 because it was too kiddy. If you can't enjoy it then, you aren't going to have much of a life. Mind you, most 10 year olds and younger are playing Grand Theft Auto now. When our generation grows out of videogaming, Nintendo are going to struggle, I fear. :(
