For the past six months, a team of three screenwriters and two story advisors have been constructing the script for a CG movie to be created in the Source Engine.

Today we are ready to bring on new members to the ZERO POINT team. We are seeking talented, dedicated artists to assist in turning our story into rendered reality.

Currently, Zero Point is looking for:

Modellers (props and scenery)
Mappers
High Detail Character Modellers
Texture Artists
Voice Actors

If you are interested in helping to create a machinima film of massive proportions, feel free to contact me through email or AOL Instant Messenger at the screenname NotASenator.

Please be prepared to present your portfolio or sample pieces. All work created for the project will be your own property, and you are open to use them in other projects as well. We also welcome work created for other mods/projects if it fits our specific needs.

Keep an eye on http://www.laniercreative.com/zeropoint/ for the public launch of the website when it becomes available.

Oh, sure...show up out of nowhere and drop this on me.

How is the SF project coming along?

Go right ahead. SDK is out this week so so we're ramping up to our first project.

Another Brian making another Source movie.
I wish you luck, good sir.

Would you happen to need the voice of a 15 year old? :)

I will accept all applications that come my way. How old you are won't matter, really. If you can record your voice with good quality and perform the lines well, we'll get you on the team.

As for being a texturist, this is what we really need. Along with 3D character artists and mappers.

Send me a PM or an email.

You should know better arman...

I'm relatively positive that the site (which was a placeholder at best) has been down since April.

Although, I still have the materials to work on my project.

Thanks for the bump though.

EDIT: I've adjusted my sig to reflect this.

You know what, I think that today I will rebuild it.

It's about time for a resurrection.

so you still need any help with this project? whats it about exactly and do you have any 3d artists already working on it?

The end result is an episodic series in Source. This isn't my first directorial project, so although the story is not secure, my vision how it should look certainly is.

I'm not going for a wide-angled laugh-fest filled with pregnant pauses before any action or dialogue. This should end up looking like someone filmed a series in Source for HBO primetime.

I'm not foolish enough to think that people would just jump aboard a project of the magnitude that I'm suggesting, so I'm resurrecting my "proof-of-concept", a short film done entirely with the existing materials in HL2. To make it more accessible to the audience and a one-man team (just me), I'm going to be using the established formula found in Law & Order shows, but with a uniquely Half Life twist.

Once that is out, I can concentrate my efforts on finding the people who can help me make the sets and characters into reality.

EDIT: Since it's been so long since I worked on this, anyone who I had interested is long gone by now, so I'm starting fresh on my team.

well you have the right attitude i wish you complete you project good luck!:)

Perhaps if you want proof of concept to show you can make a series, then you could perhaps make a music video?

I don't want to say that it's too easy, and I don't mean anything against the music video creators, but they are very different entities. Part of what the concept would actually prove would be my writing abilities and how capable I am at taking that vision and transferring it to the game engine.

I think the music videos or the movie scenes recreated in-game are great, but they aren't what I want to do long-run. This proof should be there to show people that what I'm suggesting is possible, and I'm not sure a music video does that. I appreciate the suggestion though.

Ah yeah that's fair enough really.
Anything you can divuldge to us about the script you've written? HBO primetime in source would be awesome, but you need some proffessional script writing to get a story good enough.

We're gonna have to hope that my screenwriting team is good enough. :D

As for the proof, it's going to be a pretty standard Law & Order template, just in City 17. I think there's plenty of latent humor just in the situation, but I'm going to try to keep it somewhat serious.

have any of these writers everpublished anything. have you any experience in machinima? and you failed to answer my question of what this is about. and also why has it take you so long to do the example video that doesnt show good leadership

You are straight to the point, aren't you?

No, none of my writers have been published, with the notable exception of a few articles I've done for IGN and a poem in a local literary review years ago when I thought poetry could make up for gross negligence.

No, other than the tutorials I wrote on this forum and the 20 second depth of field demo that is long gone, I have no experience in machinima.

I haven't answered about the plot of this series because I'm not really sure of the status. It ties into my next answer about why all of this has taken so long.

We got started on this project before the SDK was even released, with fantastical dreams of people flocking to our cause and providing us with all of the materials we needed.

As we moved along, I learned what I needed to learn, tried to spread the word some, but without anything to draw people in, didn't get the turnout we expected. So I took what I had, the levels I had started building and scripting out, and turned to other pursuits. Recently, not only did I see a movie that was a little too close to our script idea, but I also read about the DoF and motion blur effects being built into the engine. So I decided it was time to dust off the old FacePoser and give it another chance.

I'm taking a different approach now, but like I said before, I have no reason to assume that anyone will latch onto working with me until I've shown them something worthwhile. So that's what I plan on doing.

Here's a nice free script writing program - http://www.celtx.com

You can upload and share documents with it too.

I appreciate the link. A long time ago, I invested in Sophocles, and I've been using that pretty religiously.

i bought a program called script writer a while ago but i havnt been using it very much.

I'm taking a look at that open source software, and trying desperately to remember why Sophocles is worth the $120 I dropped on it.
