Yes!!!

EDIT: Pretty good review, but I missed a couple of the subtler jokes.

It was bound to happen. Can't watch until I get home. D:

I haven't played it but from this review it sounds like it has the exact same problems all the other metal gears have. Makes me kinda sad the splinter cell series has gone the direction it has. The review was hilarious as usual though.

MGS4 Deus Ex Machina count: 9

He pretty much summed up my feelings towards the series as a whole.

"Oh god not those c*nts again."

Heheh... wait, they're back? D:

Listen to the funnies, but not when he talks about gameplay.

MGS4 plays superbly, it's just the story and never ending cutscenes that will annoy some people.

That was awesome, and I also want T-shirts!

This is the 1st review i think was just bad. He says...

Its not for new people. Well at work i know a bunch of Halo 3 fan boys that hate the ps3 and never liked other MGS games. Yet all ****ing all love 4.

He says they give you a pistol so it breaks the stealth...wtf? So when in GTA they give you choice its not a bad thing but when they do it in MGS its broken? Bullshit. You can play it however you like...

Run and Gun
Assassin
CQC
100% Stealth

and many many more...

The items are gimmicks? He is really digging and trying to find stuff to **** with. He cant think of anything funny so he is adding a whole bunch of bullshit. I knew this would happen sooner or later. Its simply not true, just go ahead and watch some You tube videos its amazing how some people find ways to use and play the game.

Iv felt like he has done this before but at least he was funny. This time it was just lame.

I have like most of his reviews even if i didn't agree with them, simply because he found ways to be funny. I hope this isn't the beginning of a bad streak.

The plot summary alone was enough to bring tears to my eyes.

I'm glad you posted this because I'm purposely avoiding any MGS4-related talk/reviews/videos.

It's one of the few series I like to know next to nothing going in. For example: I know MGS4 is in the middle east and the game features PMC's and Liquid Ocelot somehow.

fantastically, my speakers have decided not to work now!
EDIT: They work now, great review. No longer even wanting to try it though.
I do want a pants-on-head-retarded tshirt though

His problem isn't that a pistol is given, but rather that you're given the uber tranquilizer pistol which never runs out of ammo, and eliminates enemies in one shot. I remember using said pistol in the GameCube remake or MGS1, and it made the game suitable for retards. Sure, you don't have to use the pistol, but it's the same argument in Crysis. You're given the ability to cloak and go undetected at a moment's notice with a rather quick recharge, so you can completely dominate every enemy through simple cloak-kill-cloak tactics. It's also similar to placing a banquet of fatty [though delicious] desserts in front of a bodybuilder next to a small plate of steamed broccoli. The bodybuilder should want to avoid the desserts, but there's always that temptation.

^^^that was a stretch. ><

What? I agree totally with him. I love the series, but he nailed everything on the point. It is a really bad game in the traditional sense, an absolutely horrible game but for some reason we all like it.

The tranquilizer does kill the stealth part, because it's more like aim, shoot, and then run from point a to point b instead of sneaking. All the MGS games were like this, and this made it super easy. I remember playing through MGS3 with pretty much only the tranq gun and it was a piece of cake, hell, I'd go to as far as to say it's easy then using the actual weapons for the most part.

The fun in mgs, especially in no.4, is in trying out new ways to approach different situations. To play this game just using the tranq gun misses the point entirely. It's different to Crysis in that MGS4 really rewards you for approaching the game in this way, and gives you all the toys and options you'll ever need. Not that you need them - pure stealth runs are possible - no kills, no stuns - even on the stupidily hard hardest setting.

I'm not actually a big fan of the series - I loved the first, wasn't too impressed with the 2nd, and thought 3 was too clunky for it's own good - but find it hard to fault the gameplay in no. 4. It's completely uncompromising, there's complicated controls to learn (the polar opposite to the shite that was Assassin's Creed), more items than required (yet all fun to find/use), and has more depth and reasons to come back than you'd find in 10 other games put together.

Once you know each level well enough and have mastered the controls it's scary how cool it's possible to be in MGS4.

In after Asuka oozes fanboyism.

I havent played the game yet, so I dont know how accurate anything was, but it was damn funny.

I particularly like the visual representation of the fans.

fanboy alert

*ARROOOOGAH ARROOOOGAH*

Although I loved this game I still have to say Yahtzee is right.

yes there are lots of ways to play the game but the game always does seem to lean to one side and that is action:

after all there is a weapon shop in this game
the area is a battlefield so enemies are everywhere and sneaking IMO is a bit harder this time round especially when the temptation is so easy to just shoot everything
and if you are doing it stealthy because there are so many enemies the most practical way to get around it is the aforementioned tranquilizer gun

I disagree there. The emphasis is still firmly on stealth - from the tranq gun, air ammo, stun/smoke nades, sleeping mines, playboys, barrels/boxes, cqc, and all the other gadgets, which nearly all favour stealth. The action side of the game seems thrown in to keep those new to the series, or those with add, happy.

In after fanboy rage.

seriously, why are you getting so upset over an OPINION. Not everyone will agree that this is a great game.

Spot on, yet MGS will always have a special nostalgic place in my heart.

I absolutely rofl'd when he had the representations of the characters

METAL GEAR! Metal Gear? Metal Gear!...... Metal Gear!?

True there are alot of things to help stealth but heck when you have about 10 assault rifles 3 shotguns 4 rocket launchers 7 pistols a grenade launcher and a rail gun it starts to sound like an action game to me :p

Seriously.. in splinter cell the most you get is a rifle.
And you don't ever need to use it if you play the game right.

Only problem being 90% of the people who play MGS games either use the Tranq gun so they can move from point A to point B without being detected, or they just shoot everything in sight to hell with the damn alarm.

Im sure theres tons of ways to be stealthy and a whole bunch of different ways to tackle a situation but hes right in saying the game pretty much focuses on the action aspect of it all seeing as thats how most of everyone plays the damn game anyway. You're either Tranqin fools, or blowing shit up.

Fair point. That's not the games fault, though, and doesn't detract from what it does so well.

That was pretty much me, just i had wished i didnt watch the B&B or RvsV Trailers.

I don't agree at all and who said the pistol has infinite ammo? Another thing that isnt true and all depends on how you play it.

Thats a opinion i can respect.

Thats one i cant.

Boo ****ing hoo about the people who play it the easy way. Their loss. You might aswell moan about the gravity gun in HL2.

It's not like it has changed. MGS2 and MGS3 had a crapload of weapons too. The only time I used them was in boss fights anyway or if I ****ed up sneaking.

I'm a ghoster generally, the first time I play a MGS game I just play it how it goes, so I won't let myself die and then reload a save to sneak perfectly.

After I finish the game I will always attempt to have zero alerts etc. That's the good thing about MGS, it leaves it up to the player to play it how they want. Rescuing sokolov in MGS3 is a perfect example.

Look at vids on youtube about the different scenarios completed by various methods.

That's kind of how I play it too, except sometimes I break some necks for shits the first time through

Funny review, don't have a PS3 to play this game. Nor have I played any of the other games. Maybe one day.

Or putting to much pressure on O in MGS3 *slit throat*

'oops sorry'.

*still haven't played mgs4 btw D:

I played the first 10 minutes at a friend's house last weekend, but when I go home in August I'm going to play the shit out of that game :D

I got owned when I was playing though, I didn't know about the threat ring and somehow I accidentally turned off the radar so I was flying blind while learning and adjusting the controls :p

Oh shut up you corporate sycophant.

Meany.
