I've been trying to refresh EM for the last couple of hours to catch the new ZP but not been able to either.

Page is loading, but pretty slow. It just loaded for me.

*EDIT* Ohh new video player. I like it.

Good one :)

He summed up Doom 3 in one line better than every review out there put together.

Ah, painkiller, not a big fan of that game, i respectfuly disagree about the point about a game thats just pure killing, but then again, every other fps is bout that but have some kind of story to back it up.

I just like games with story, thats just me.

Yeah I have to have a game with good story:)

or at least kickass gameplay ;)

I need to try that game :)

The ZP page has changed and I can't find most of the reviews now :(

He probably didn't try beating it. It's fun to play at first, but after 20 levels or so of the same stuff it gets mind numbing.

I lol'd a great deal. One of his better reviews.

Are you so sure? Maybe I just have good taste.

I was just messing. Painkiller really is good fun though, and your opinion may change if you were to give it a play through.

Ha! Finally watched it and it was one of his better reviews of late. Very funny.

I agree about it being an awesome game too--for hours and hours it is extremely fun to go through the levels blasting all sorts fo baddies because everything looks so beautiful. I have to admit that it did get boring after a LONG while and I never finished it. Maybe this will make me go back and play it all over again! (Or maybe I will just go back to GTA IV....)

Y'know; the more sarcastic and surly you get, the more I hate Daffy Duck.

Well, it was a long time ago. But I probably won't give it another go.

That's open to debate.

I thought we were friends. : (

Wasn't this the thing that was like the first try a physics engine in multiplayer? It was pretty wonky, but I can't think of any other game that's done it any better since then... I only played the demo, but I remember it holding my attention for a little bit at least.

I could be thinking of a totally different game, though.

I liked Painkiller. Sure story in games is a great and important thing, but sometimes you just don't really give a shit, you just want to kill things. Painkiller is a perfect game for when you want a break from whatever other game you might be in the middle of. Just play it in short bursts when you want some mindless fun.

I remember when i bought this game, it was a impulse buy and loved it.

I got painkiller because it looked sweet on the box back in whatever year that was. On the back of the box it said something like, "move over Doom"

So I bought it.

The graphics were good at the time, but the game completely blows.

I still have it installed. It's been like 5 years and I haven't ever wanted to play it again after the first day.

Painkiller is horrible IMHO. It's like a homebrew game with fair graphics.

I bought the game when it was released, partly to the fact that it was dirt cheap here and because it was a local developer. Back then my PC wasn't exactly up to the game's standards, but instead of stuttering, the game simply slowed down, so it felt like playing in slo-mo. I finished it and generally enjoyed it, though it's not exactly my type of game.

I reinstalled it yesterday and played for a bit and while it was a bit tedious with the [next location->wait for everyone to spawn and kill them->next location] formula, I almost finished the first chapter. One of the reasons I kept playing, was the fact that I remembered there were some great environments later on in the game (like the Opera House). And Hell itself is a masterpiece.

I wasn't sure what he meant by "forgot it wasn't System Shock 2" because, whilst I've not played it, I'm led to believe that SS2 is an extremely clever RPG-FPS with lots of depth.
Perhaps I played a different version of Doom 3 because the game I played couldn't have been further from that. It was shallow verging on archaic FPSing (that'd not to say it wasn't fun - it had moments which were terrifying and the levels in Hell were superbly designed) and the only real inventory-balancing was whether you should have a gun out in pitch darkness or get out your flashlight, leaving yourself vulnerable and virtually helpless (incidentally, if you think that this was a bad design choice then you're a complete pussy).
Okay so it had PDAs that had people's voice-recording diaries on it to tell the story, but overall to me it felt more like the original Doom games except you could look up and everything was made of plastic.
