Hehe, now im finnish, i live in Espoo in Finland, thats about 15km (12.5 English miles) from Helsinki.

Heh..... we get snow in the UK from time to time, but not much... it's fun though, I love snow.... :D

;( that sucks about the illness..... heh, but that reminds me of when all my mates pelted my (then) girlfriend Sarah.... just to annoy me, needless to say, she wasn't best pleased... :p.... ah well

Whats a School Cadet Day? Is there some sort of special uniform?

way to make me jealous with the snow maxi! :p I love the snow, haven't had any properly up here in like forever. It looks like you live out in the middle of nowhere too, I'd love to live in a place like that, again with the making me jealous, quit it will ya ;)

Ah cool, the cadet thing in my town is terrible, a run down old building with a broken climbing wall... bah.. mainly becuase the youth of my town are in general anti-social arseh*les....

Anyway, I guess thats what you get when you go to a specialist sports college, facilities :p

Wow thanks for the pictures. I don't get winter any more. They remind me of Amarillo when it would snow there when I was younger.........

Oh well, I'm stuck in year round sunny Honolulu... Maybe I'll try and visit the mainland this winter... If I only had money...ROFL

OMGZ0r!!!!! A GIRL IS ON THE FORUM!!!!!

/me combs hair

Hi... I'm Ron... THAT's R to the O to the hizz N. lol j/k

no seriously there is no place better than ohio and thier school districts. we get 3 inches ON THE ROAD and they don't close down school, we get 1 cm of snow and the roads are just slush.... BAM, we get closed down for a week.... retarted schools

We got a dusting here the other day.
And even the schools here in Connecticut where bigtime snow is normal are really stupid about when they close and when they don't.

I wish I had pictures of the kind of snow we get here in Canada. Sometimes we get like 25 cm of snow in one night.
In Newfoundland (Canadian province on the East coast) they had a total of over 600cm of snow fallen last year.

Its really fun when the snow is so deep that its up to your thighs and its impossible to run. Although it really sucks when you try to drive in a blizzard.

It was snowing here a couple days ago, though not enough to start making everything white.

I remember we used to get tonnes of snow when I was little, there were big mounds at the end of the streets where the ploughs had pushed it all, hours of fun climbing all over them. I don't know what happened but we don't seem to get so much anymore.

same here, I remember as a little kid having tons of fun with loads of snow almost all year round, often higher than I was, that was great fun, could actually get lost in it haha. I just thought it wasn't the same these days cause im much taller now but my dad assures me it used to be really bad and often very deep (he hates the cold and the snow) I miss it though (I love the cold and the snow)

The only time I've ever experienced snow was during my trip to mt. Buller. Ahhhhh, good times. Pity the snow disappeared 2 1/2 hours after we got there, though. It was +3degrees celsius, so it didn't want to hang around.

Memorable happenings:

My beefhead of a cousin introduced me to my first snowball-with-rock.

My sister attempted to toboggan-ram a snowman that, unbeknownst to her, was built around a treestump. later, she hit a smaller stump and managed to do a 6 meter jump, the lucky little sod.

I managed to clock the fastest time on a toboggan, with the result that I almost shot off the drop at the edge of the tobboganing field.

All the snow turned brown, and we had a slush-fight.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuun.:E

I remember making my first snowman way back in the day, and the night was so cold afterwards, it froze, and didn't melt for weeks, it took a month for all the slush to go :cheese:

See, everyone likes Snow :)

lol ahh fun times. I've a lot of memories of spending most of my childhood covered in bruises from sledding into things, slipping on ice and going head first. All great fun though! To this day I'm surprised I never broke a bone or my nose or twisted anything (all changed when i got older and stated getting drunk haha)

Scotland owns. I used to live there and now I go every Christmas. It always snows about a foot at least, if not more. At least where I go.... the last time it was as good as in all those pictures was about three years ago. Ah...memories. Spent ages building a taboggan run, then it went of course and inot the brambles. Ouch. It's not all winter wonderlands though, I remember this one year when it snowed so much...well, how'd you like to have Christmas roasting dinner in the fire, in the dark. Total island-wide power blackout.

I love snow. It covers up all the dirt and scum that is the world outside.

Here in NY we sometimes get up to 2 feet which means snow day! and you get to chill at home.

SHIPPI did u make that site? looks good :)

Maxi nice pics, looks like a neat place to live.. im in Toronto, Canada and seeing other places is always fasincating to me :)

wow, I guess I'm in the minority here...

I live about 20km from MaxiKana so unfortunately I got snow here too.
But unlike the rest of you, I can't stand the shit.---> Cold, change to wintertyres, winterclothes which sucks majorly, slippy roads, too dark during the winter. Problems starting the car on early mornings..

bah... I'm really trying to come up with some positive things about winter but I can't.

well Dax, we get more snow than u do (i think.. location: Canada) and winter is our speciality.. not sure what that means but we get our fair share and its not all that bad..

the cold, the shoveling of snow.. its all in the mind man.. u can learn to enjoy it if u have the right mindset :)

It doesn't ever snow where I live... but I occasionally take vacations to Wyoming or Colorado and in some places up there the snow is deeper than I am tall.

I like to go for a week or two... but I would have to live in it.

Damn, I live in Tennessee and we just get a little bit of snow. If I lived in the Smoky Mountains, I'd probably get a lot, but since I don't I rarely see it. But that's ok because I don't really like snow. It's pretty to look at, but it just makes you all wet and cold. Plus, it's still 70°F (21°C) here, so why would I want snow?

early morning in the snow and cold, when the rest of the country is just waking up, thats the best part of the winter! :) well until the festive season, then shopping in town with all the twinkly lights and festivities, thats just cool! :D

<I'm just a big kid>

No snow here yet, we sometimes have snow in september, not this year.

I've never even been sledging... unless you count that time when I got pushed down a hill and somehow managed to go all the way down on my knees... that was cool.

I've never been sledging, I grew up in the suburbs of London, so no hills, and I moved to the country, but by that time I was about 8... and it didn't snow for years :p... I just have my childhood memories of playing in my tiny snow-filled back garden :)

But I'd love to go sledging, maybe this winter.... :)

Hehe, wow diddn't expect this many replies! and no i don't live in the middle of nowhere heh :p I live in a suburb called Matinkylä, thats in the center of Espoo. But in Finland we generally do have alot of trees everywhere (if i remember correctly 70% of our country is covered in forests). It's gonna snow some more tomorow but itll all melt tuesday and wednesday :(. And where do you live Dax, Vantaa?

Also it is unusual for it to snow this much this early in the year, usually it starts snowing like this in november, but i love the snow, it reminds me of Christmas and skiing.

A hurricane hasn't gone through where I live in Florida since a good while before I was born... the worst thing that has happened that I can remember was either the power going out for maybe two hours or a tornado ripping a big oak tree out of the ground down the street from where I live (it was the only tornado that I can remember going anywhere near my area... and I didn't get to see it because I slept through it).

Other than that and the occasional mild thunderstorm, nothing happens here.

I guess I'm lucky.

fair enough :)

i love snow days.. aside from schools cancelling, some times work cancels too! :dork:

Snow is fun, but having to work in it sucks. You dont want to haul wood through 2ft snowbanks :)

Don't forget "we get rain in the UK.........lots of rain....and tea.....and Mary Poppins..."

First thing I'm going to do when I find more snow is build a snow fort. I've seen them just about everywhere in the media. Whenever there's snow on TV, theres a snow fort. In comics, a snow fort.

They just look so fun...

Hmmmm...

<walks off with HL2 mod idea>

... maybe not the yellow kind thou eh ;)

:) Normal.

:) Snowball-with-a-rock.

:) Slushball.

:) Frozen.

:) Supersized.

BTW, Does that old cliche about rolling a snowball down a hill work? Y'know, where you do so, and it gets bigger?

if..

the snow is soft enough

or if the snowball is big enough to pick up while it rolls

can't wait until games have full realtime billions of particles all with dynamics, build snow forts on the fly in the game from scratch, patting down the snow heh that'd be cool
