I have discovered my own tactics I use but am curious to see if anyone has anything else I have not discovered that is effective.

Boomer
1. Always vomit from above when possible and live to puke another day.
2. Remain hidden until you are actually ready to vomit.
3. If you have to attack, do it when you are sure a stray bullet will hit you and in range of the most survivors as possible.

Smoker
1. Holes in ceilings are your best friend, try and snag the #4 survivor jumping down.
2. Time your attack with the boomer as players covered in goo have a harder time reacting to your own mayhem.
3. Snatch survivors who are helping other survivors.

Hunter
1. Great for taking down stragglers, players who wander off alone or lag behind fear the hunter for a good reason.
2. Zig zag jump towards survivors not directly at them unless they are really close or have not noticed you.

Tank
1. Try and get one survivor in red and crippled to where they cannot get up, then attack another. Basically try and cause separation between the survivors so your teammates can take down enemies individually.
2. Avoid chasing green health survivors, instead hit them with 2ndary ranged attacks then followup with a punch and repeat.

General tactics

1. Use the witch as cover, same with cars with alarms, if you make yourself a target usually theres at least 1 dumb survivor who will shoot and cause your little friends to swarm.
2. Coordinate your attacks with your teammates, if you work together and time your attacks you can win rather easily. A single or even 2 infected are no match vs 3 or 4 survivors, timing is the key.

Pretty useful stuff there.
I dont have any tactics in particular, but i tend to just follow the group, wait till my teammates attack then cause mayhem while the survivors try to help each other.

With the Boomer it takes too long to recharge his Vomit attack. I usually wait until the first Horde has being killed then do a suicide run. When you explode you can get a few nearby Survivors.

For hunters it's usually good to act as a Support, along side a another Hunter, Smoker or Boomer, or as you said to hit those rushing off on their own. It's very hard to cause any damage as a Hunter on your own.

And of course, small spaces/rooms = Boomer heaven.

Don't forget, if you're a hunter or smoker - keep an eye out on areas that permanently separate team members from each other.

Example: the finale of No Mercy right when they get up to that rooftop from the long ladder. If one stays on that roof while the others jump down, pounce/yank with the hunter/smoker. The other team won't have an angle to shoot you. Even if they manage to get you, chances are you've already incapped the survivor. The roof is too high for them to get back up to so the guy is stuck there - doomed to bleed out. Congrats, you've just killed a survivor singlehandedly.

There's another perfect spot to do this in Blood Harvest when the survivors jump into the cornfield.

Keep your eyes peeled for other spots like these.

Apartments in No Mercy has another of those spots. The third level where you head for the pawn shop has a drop that takes a long time to work back round to, after the elevator event.

Lead your puke - as a Boomer, hide somewhere that the survivors have to run by and puke just before they get into your los. Even if they shoot you instantly it'll be too late.

Start with the Boomer puke. When the survivors are fending off zombies it's the perfect time for the Hunter/Smoker to do their thang - they're too easy to kill otherwise.

It's all about the Boomer - the rest just finish off his good work :)

Having a smoker pull a victim away from his group, then having a boomer puke on that guy and 'ambush' the others to try and get them with death explosion can be pretty effective.

Poor Digi. :(

I posted this in another thread but it's more appropriate here; for the boomer, if you go on a roof, or any place high enough, and jump down you will explode when you hit the ground like a big fat zombie waterballoon. You can splash all four survivors if you jump in the middle of 'em.

I saw that happen in the demo!

I was laughing cause i thought the AI had made a mistake and sent him to his useless death:LOL:

Didnt know it actually did something useful!

Pretty much what I do as well.

Tank = Hit one down, chase the next weakest, knock him down, chase the next.

Boomer = Vomit over one or two from a hideyspot and then rush in to the rest of them and explode. Apparently theres a bind to set off an explosion, but I don't know.

Smoker = I dunno, I haven't figured out how best to use them, I try and grab them away, especially when they are getting swarmed but so far no good.

Hunter = Jump on stragglers, jump on them when they are getting swamped, jump on ones helping others up, you die allot but ohwell, your more of an annoyance boss as a hunter, working with other bosses.

I find that all good hits revolve around the boomer - a good boomer hit allows for other infected to get in hits unnoticed due to the chaos of the infected swarming around them.

So, if you do manage to hit all 4 (or even 3) players with the boomer:

- Smoker grabs one

- Hunters pounce the other two

- Last one is hopefully occupied by the horde.

It also helps if you wait and see who the horde is going to attack the most, then attack the three who the horde aren't really going for. This is a lot easier before they get the T2 weapons, as a horde is really no match for an autoshotty or M16, so you may not be able to do as much damage.

I've accomplished this a couple times on a pub server, other times with friends. It's nearly flawless unless the guy who's up manages to clear off both his infected/clear off one of his friends before they're incapped. The boomer can also help with this by blowing up after he barfs on the last guy; he'll get knocked back and lose precious seconds in clearing the infected off his friends.

One key thing to note with this, though, is not to let the last guy away. In some circumstances if you get too bogged down with the other three, the last guy can run to the finish line and still get points for distance traveled and health. If he does do this, try to respawn near him (press use), catch up to him with a hunter, or boomer him to slow him down so your teammates can catch up.

___________

Completely unrelated:

If you jump on someone with the hunter from a height, they'll sustain an instant "pounce damage". This means that you can do 5-25ish damage INSTANTLY, even if the other survivors knock you off directly after. So, if there's a rooftop nearby, jump on that before you pounce, and DON'T MISS.

__________

For Smoker:

If there's a spot where a survivor can fall, pull them through that. They'll be instantly incapacitated on the ledge (your tongue will detach), without use of the pistol. This means your team is only dealing with 3, not 4, Survivors. I haven't tested whether you can pull them again once they grab the ledge and pull them into the abyss, so I don't know if you can kill them using that.

_______________

I'm also pretty (not entirely) sure that the tank spawns based on time; if you take a long time to get to the end, you're going to have a tank. If you get through it relatively quickly, there's not going to be one. I've had this experience multiple times, so I think this is how it works, especially since a tank spawned RIGHT at the end one time when we had to go back and rescue someone.

So yes, stalling a team is profitable, through boomer or a smoker pull or whatever.
