was just looking at the pics of the bad guys of hl2 and then i relized that them zombie basterds turn in to them red things the kinda own your face!

so im guessing that they are gunna be making a return in HL2

also i was thinking that the head crabs look bigger then the ones in the origanal HL especily the ones one the zombies

Uh, the barnacles? The headcrabs/zombies don't have any relation to the barnacles and don't turn into them. They are completely two different things. But, I'm pretty sure Valve has said the barnacle will return in Half-Life 2. I don't really see any similarities anyway.

...got no idea where you're coming from with the barnacle/headcrab comparison there.

As for headcrab size, I'm pretty sure (and many seem to agree, and even complain) that the headcrab's attatched to hosts are bigger than the HL standard. HAIL THE SUMO CRAB!

I reckon because the smaller 'crabs attatch to a host, eat the brain/head, and swell up to become a replacement. In the Traptown video, the zombie Gordon hit with the shotgun had no head beneath the 'crab. Valve said there were variations (inc. normal and sumo) so presumanly headcrabs yet to encounter a host are the standardised chirruping face laceraters we all know and love.

in opposing forces it was talking about the zombies and how they evolved, and as you got further into the game they got bigger and there chest started to open and they turned into them barnical things.... well i reckon they did.. i try and find an image of what im talking about hehe mayb im being a retard but who knows

Brilliant... despite what some people have said I thought the Gonome was a great step up from the zombie. Here's hoping there're aesthetic variations (for zombies and everything else, come to think of it), meaning an end to the identical hordes of mass-produced security guards and headcrabbed horrors...

The gonome was the more evolved zombie in the Opposing Force expansion. They were bigger and faster than normal, and they would throw red glods of something at you from a distance.

I have no idea what you just asked.. but yes, Gonarch is the same specie of headcrabas you see throughout HL (I believe, can't say for sure)

Okay! I re-read your first post, it actually made sense. As I said, yes, the "mom headcrab" (aka Gonarch, as mentioned) is the same species. I'm doubtful that the headcrabs she spawns can grow to be as big as her, but I can't say for sure (no one really can..)

But I agree, it would be cool to have headcrabs larger than the standard ones, ones that did attack you in a different manner.

I wonder... maybe the zombies just serve as transport for the headcrab until it's eaten enough, and then it drops off and metamorphoses into a Gonarch... or maybe it just mutates whatever it's latched onto into one...
