I was just wondering if any of you have saved a life, or assisted in doing so, and what it means to you. Think about it. Maybe you have.
I was thinking about it, and realized I've helped save several lives. At least 3 or 4.
Here are the stories behind them, in case you are interested.
I drove up my street for the night, after stopping for fast food, and I saw my neighbor, a friend of mine, laying at the edge of the curb. He was moving like he was completely drunk, crawling on the ground. Well I thought he was drunk, but when I got out of my car he was calling for me from down the street. I didn't think it was a big deal and casually walked down there while eating my sandwich and found out he had been a victim of a drive-by from some people he didn't even know. So I called emergency services, and hung out, calming and assisting him. He was airlifted in a helicopter, and they ended up deciding to leave the bullet in him because it was so close to the heart. He survived.
Saw some guy wreck on his motorcycle right in front of my eyes, and his helmet flew off during the accident, and he wasn't moving. I quickly pulled into the McDonald's at the intersection, ran inside, and alerted them to call an ambulance. He was also airlifted to a hospital. He survived.
Saw my father who looked like he was sleeping while watching his team play a football game. I knew he wouldn't want to miss it, so I tried to wake him up and he was not responding. Turns out he had a heart-attack, but finally I got him to respond and we went to the hospital. He had only 2% of the arteries to his heart free, so it's pretty amazing that he had lived with his arteries clogged like that. But had surgery and he's fine now. We are very fortunate that he survived.
I thought there was at least one more, but I can't remember right now.
