Taking out air support is a huge mistake. Air support is far easier to deal with if you have upgraded anti-air turrets + scvs to repair them (plus a few wraiths and battlecruisers to guard the crystal), and the tunnels mission to take out the worms is one of the best in the game.
Deus ex Machina just means God out of the Machine: doesn't specifically have to be about saving the heroes, just has to be some unbelievable thing that comes out of nowhere (and possibly saves the heroes). However even with that, what he's describing still doesn't fit.
Going between different...
I knew one guy who would have mistaken a pot-plant for a toilet had some other people not intervened. Can't say I have ever sleep-walked myself, but then how would I know?
Not too aware of the history of DMC, was it a mod or created internally by Valve? Either way the idea pretty much came from Quake so they don't get the originality points, not that it really matters. Likewise Gearbox took what valve made and ran with it so their games aren't on the list...
Partly yes, though also the similarity in gameplay. It sounds to me like the two might have been designed in tandem.
Edit: Yeah, it gets a bit scary when you realise their only truly original products are Half-Life and Ricochet. Just goes to show the power of Valve Polish™. Just for the list...
Took out air, and went nuts with those bicopter thingies. Works a charm since all zerg charge in a row all nice for your carpet bombing upgrade, and you can go stealth to take out the worms, not to mention there isn't much left to kill 'em. They were practically made for that mission.
Best...
I think the trick to this one is that they didn't overdo the pop-culture references, or rather, they didn't make them so overly transparent. Many of the previous ones (especially the iPhone one) were very ham-fisted in their approach by comparison. Best of the new episodes by a wide margin, and...
Well, yes, but there is a huge difference in the technology between a fusion bomb and a fusion power source, a pursuit in one has practically no relevance to the other. The most a fusion power source project could be used for is a means to produce radioisotopes, which is something your average...
The background ambience and sound effects (especially with glados reactivating) are incredible. Add a new depth over the steadycam videos.
As for the voice... it's ok until "you did what?" That line in particular just seems too direct and out of place, like you could tell it was being recorded...
Who cares what critics think. I had a look, some of the user comments (the minority mind you) gave the game some praise for its merits. Why not try it for yourself and make up your own mind, who knows - you may enjoy it, you might not. At this price it's worth the risk.
If you have a windows emulator it might run.
I played Half-Life 2 long before I played the original, and in my opinion it's not really a requirement. However it might help if you learn some of the backstory before you start if you choose to skip 1. You can actually get a feel for the plot...
