I hope TF2 is mentioned in there, I look forward to finally knowing what has been going on with it for the last five years. God knows I've been wondering about that, and a lot of people with me.
Not sure if it was a double post, I removed the old one because everyone started calling everyone a nazi in it.
But yeah, I bet there are few people who don't work overtime at Valve HQ right now. :)
I argue against that Bass:
1. Valve stated several times that TF2 will be stand-alone.
2. Valve has had a huge-ass crew working on TF2 for a long time, I hardly think they will want to release it for free.
3. CS2 has only had one person working on it (and he is a mod-maker)
Well, Gooseman has been working on CS2 for more than two years already - he even talked about it on some TV show a while ago. Gabe also confirmed it around May 2001.
The biggest argument against CS2 being included as a mod is that they might earn more money from it by releasing it...
Bass, I don't claim anything, I just theorize [is that a word?] about it.
Anyhow, could you elaborate why you think the "claims" are ludicrous? Just stating your opinion isn't very constructive. :)
Snakebyte, and since you are pretty sure CS2 won't be done in time, I want you to tell us all how far in development CS2 is.
From what I've heard, CS2 has been in development for more than two years (Gabe confirmed it in May 2001).
I have this feeling that they will include CS2 with HL2 as a free mod. After all, the development costs on CS2 have probably been pretty low since they have had only one person working on it more or less (Gooseman) so they wouldn't lose too much money on it. And Gooseman is by nature a mod...
When I poked around in the HL1 source code, IIRC it seemed like they implemented some kind of smell system. I think it shows in the game for example when Barney says "Whew, something died down here!" But anyway, I think we should be pretty certain that HL2 will have a much better AI than its...
Gamespy is only surpassed by Microsoft in terms of evilness. But I have to say, if Valve completes this game by September 30th, it will be the first time they get something done in time.
CS2 got confirmed 2 years ago when Gabe said that Minh is "working on Counter-Strike 2, which will use the same engine as TF 2". IIRC CS2 was also mentioned on some kind of news show where Gooseman was interviewed.
Nobody knows what the multiplayer part will be but I'm guessing it will be CS2 or "Counter-Strike Classic" or something like that since they have had Minh Le working on it for quite some time.
