I've found several issues, but then again, I have several issues with the non-source version of HL1 as well. (Can't even play Half-Life unless it's in source due to a constant freezing problem near the apache on the tram sequence. Verifying my files didn't help either)
Ultimatly, the fact...
Did some digging, looks like they're going to rearrange the price of Half-Life 2 and all the othergames, and not for the better either.
-Half-Life 2 (Plus lost coast) is 40 bucks.. No CS:Source, No Half-life: Source. For a mere 10 bucks more, you can get the Game of the Year edition at...
That said it would be out in the summer; obviously Summer has gone past (In both designations) and we currently have the "Out in Fall probably, but definantly this year" release window.
Will they make the window? Possibly, but I would not at all be surprised if they didn't: Valve doesn't have...
Actually, one of your fellow marines mentions "Maybe we'll even get a shot at Freeman on the way out" when telling shephard that they should head to the extraction point near Lambda Sector.
There's been several release windows that Valve has completely and totally missed.
"May" - Totally missed that
"Within 2 weeks" - Was several months ago
"Summer" - Ain't summer anymore
"Before DoD:Source" - Yet we have Dod:S and no Lost Coast, go figure.
I'm still amazed Valve bothers...
You can have Steam installed on as many machines as you want; you just can't use your account more than once at the same time. I routinly have Steam running on both my laptop and my PC regardless :D
Who would win in a fight? Well, it depends a lot on the situation and what tools Gordon and Adrian have access to.
In a straight up fistfight between two guys; I would absolutely have to give this to Shephard; the Hazard Course is nowhere near equivalent to military training. Shephard is...
Well A. Gordon isn't stupid; it's highly like that if Barney survived, he would have had to fight his way out. Secondly; Barney is the one who makes the statement, ergo Barney is the one who needs to know that both he and Gordon went through similar events. (And between Rosenburg's comment...
Marc Laidlaw has already stated that all the Gearbox material is canon; as it should be. Why would Valve let Gearbox develope new additions to their property if they weren't going to "have them count." Also, there is no reason to think Valve would just send off Gearbox without ANY supervision...
Blue Shift is official; why else would Valve name the HL2 Barney "Barney Calhoun?" Also, Marc Laidlaw has mentioned Race-X and other gearbox materials; he always speaks of them like they're a part of the word and has never once insinuated they aren't.
I would have bought this game for $20 or more.. For 13 bucks I'm definantly going to pick it up..
Hell, I've paid more to see a crappy movie with some crappy popcorn and soda.
IIRC, there hasn't been an announced package for specificly Aftermath; it's being sold with HL2 Platinum but there hasn't been a standalone SKU announced yet, and with it only costing 12.95 I can see why.
How many sub-20 dollar games do you typically see in the new releases area for PC games? The price is just way too low for retailers to give a damn about it. Expansions never sell nearly as much as their source game, so even if they sold a million copies; the profit they would make on it would...
There wasn't anything really that cool in the CD releases of Half-Life 2, which is pretty much why I went with Steam. In exchange, I got a crapton of goodies, games, and the ability to play Half-Life 2 15 minutes right after it got activated.
I think I'll go with Steam again.
Nope, Walter Bennet was gracing the pages of Planet Half-Life with his column long before Opposing Force came out.
Also, Decay's manual lists a "W. Bennet" on the Hazard Course schedule, so there's not really much doubt that the Walter from Op4 and Blue Shift is a reference to Fragmasters...
