You can turn it on in your BIOS. Only turn it on if you have windows XP though, it tends to slow down on other operating systems. XP is the only one optimised to use it. Just lookin your BIOS for Hyperthreading and turn it on.
I've heard some issues with softmodding some 9800 SEs to Pros, like some brands it's much more difficult to do with than others. So if you're going that route make sure to do some research first on which ones have the best OC options.
Well since this is the halflife2 forum, i'd have to say Radeon 9700 Pro would be your best bet for Half life 2. Then again Doom 3 will probably run better on the 5900 Non-ultra. Though you're only talking maybe 10-20 FPS of difference, if you scale back some of the features you should get any...
Well it probably won't just be a shoddy emulation, there will probably be a redesign of the chip to optimise for the PCI-X, because if anyone is gonna notice any kind of hit in performance it's high end graphics card users. I could barely tell the IQ differences on the Nvidea cards looking at...
And if you're getting up near 70 or 80, make sure to check the ambient case temperature. While the processor may be able to put up with some hot conditions, the other hardware might not fair so well.
Man i wanna see ATI's offerings now. What do you wanna bet that the new NV40 is going to be soo optimised for DX after all the shit they got this year over HL2?
Though with that said, some of my favorite games are still 6-15 years old. The nintendo was really the first system that could bring peoples imaginations to life. I still love the original mario, i play it every couple of months. Mario 3 is still one of the best games of all time, just brings...
How many times have we heard about these "inside sources" knowing something? And how many times have they been wrong?
I say no way, and am betting sept 30 this year.
Well a cheep kit can give you leaks, which'll be more expensive in the end then a good cooling kit would have been. Also you kill a lot of your computers mobility if you get a WC kit. If you're not over clocking there's some straight heat sinks you can look into that'll cool your system fine...
Well i don't know any specifics, but as i've always thought "SE" means "Shit Edition" to me. Though it's an SE of a 9800. It's not going to go as fast as a regular 9800, or a pro, but you can always OC it to those speeds. The on board memory is also a little slower.
It still probably going...
Yea definately need to give us more info on what problems your facing. How far along with the boot up does it go? What kind of beeps? Anything like that.
You can usally get a pretty cheep heat sink that's a lot better than a stock one. Just make sure you get one that's compadable with the chip you're getting.
