STEAM games are free.. they are basically for testing purposes and include no things such as user created maps, or mods. It's more or less to test the downloading system.. your original HL and CS will still work, but in order to play CS 1.6 you are stuck with the original maps until 1.6 goes public.
Blueshift isn't supported by STEAM apparently..
If you download HL from STEAM , you get it in it's original form. It's free, so if you want Blueshift, install the retail version and update it with Blueshift.
1. NO
2. YES
3. YES
4. Not long.. I have cable and it took under 10 minutes to download CS 1.6
I still can't figure a way of getting custom maps to work proper in 1.6, but then again it's still beta
That's because you don't have the latest Divx codecs OzzO..
Awesome job.. I have high speed and downloaded the Steam version and I must say, for a savings of over 60 megs you did an awesome job in converting it.
Sucks we have to wait til tomorrow for a second video.. why no release them all at the same time dang it? Obviously we downloaded more then the 68 meg video, so what else is in the cache? More videos? Someone find a way to release them dang it :)
You would think that all this waiting they would release a better one of the videos first.. like the techdemo .. not a 30 second shot of the Gman... he does look pretty cool though don't he :)
I know I started this poll earlier, but I deleted it because some of you were voting already... why? Anyways, since it's released now, to some extent, vote on whether you thought the wait was worth it...
Personally , I don't.
Why download it through Fileplanet.. downloads suck from them, even through their membership servers.. speeds on steam are excess of 500 kb/s where as i never get over 150 from FP.
How many people will be disappointed if it's not though.. sure, maybe Erik did say 4pm Pacific time.. but they have been known to change their minds at the last minute. :)
Never really tried DF LW.. is it any good Chris? I hear mixed reviews on the game, think I will try it someday.. not going to buy it full price if it's not that great though.
Definately should have enough bandwith once they release the new media... or old media at least in a new format :)
Should be a great test for Steam that's for sure.. Here's hoping it goes well for them
1650.. and still one server down, and no Gamestorm #8.. probably being bumped...
