thief: the dark project
far cry, oh yes
braid !
castle crashers
and of course, the original DOOM demo was like nothing else you could get over a modem from a bbs. i remember ordering the full version directly from id via an order form i mailed to them with a check! got the floppies in...
i own both gh4 and rb1/2 (and just the rock band instruments) and rock band is far and away the better and more polished game.
and this seals the deal for me. anywhere from 3 songs to a full album's worth of songs released per week keeps the game fresh and constantly in my 360's drive...
I still don't get this line of reasoning. Most non-RPGs nowadays run 8-10 hours. And cost $60. That's $6.00-7.50 per hour of playtime.
Braid runs 4-6 hours. It costs $15. That's $2.50-3.75 per hour of playtime. About half. And that's a great deal for a game that is polished, engrossing...
woohoo, roll on spring 2013, or whenever we can reasonably expect a release!
seriously though, who else was relieved by absolutely no mention of 360/ps3 anywhere? long live pc gaming!
console: zaxxon on colecovision
computer: castle wolfenstein on an apple iic
the first two wolfenstein games (castle wolfenstein, beyond castle wolfenstein) were so much damned fun. it used to scare the shit out of me when an SS trooper would march into the room, yelling...
yep, before the demo came out (which was a good six to eight weeks after release), played for about an hour, and the performance/load times were gamebreaking for me, so uninstall and no purchase. the loading completely broke immersion. now i'm asking if this was improved upon in patches, or is...
i'd be interested in knowing this as well...i have a decent rig, and the load times really put me off. as in: walk in to the hut, wait 10 seconds for loading, nope nothing i need here, walk back out, and another 10 seconds of loading, maybe this hut, 10 more seconds, etc.
was this improved...
For some reason, my 360 isn't automatically signing me in to live anymore, and when I go to do it manaully, it takes a good 30-45 seconds. I STILL haven't been able to play a SWOS match online yet, just getting disconnects every attempt.
I really think the delayed PC demo is more an effect of that they really, really, REALLY want this to be the greatest game ever made. And that includes a flawless PC demo release (which needs more testing and care than a generic 360 setup), avoidance of release-day patches, demo patches, etc...
For me personally, all the reviews (and Ken Levine himself) indicate that there are massive plot issues that make the game as great as it is, and any spoilers would, um...spoil the damn near-perfect gaming experience:

virus, the game is awesome. i bought a 360 in february pretty much for three games: dead rising, forza 2, mass effect. in my impatience, i've bought a bunch of 360 games while waiting (gow, vegas, graw, saints row, etc.), but sold them all within a few weeks. if you love auto racing and cars...
wow, european parts are expensive in the usa, virus? no shit?! ffs...
back to being on topic, the game is brilliant, and anyone who loves cars and racing needs it. the graphics are ok to good, but who gives a shit when the game plays like a dream? easily the best driving sim since lfs.
they (bioware devs) make a big stink on the official forums that there is no official release date, and therefore won't comment on a "delay".
