Forza 2 Release day - getting a copy ?

Ok so im probably going to pick this up, the demo wasnt kickass but the game has had my interest for a long time. So anyone else picking this up?

http://forzamotorsport.net/

If it was coming out for PC, I would have pre-ordered it a year ago. However, it's not, so Microsoft won't be getting my money. Isn't that neat-o? Maybe Microsoft will realize that if they port their games to PC, they are still selling games for their platform.

It's not release day here till the 8th of June. Why do us Brits get screwed in every way possible? We get stuff late and have to pay twice as much when it eventually does get here. </rant>

Yeah, i've got a preorder for F2. It's going to be awesome.

Same, i have a UK pre-order for this. I feel like a child at christmas..

:E

yes, ASAP
price went down on the wireless wheel too...hmmm

game looks very similiar to the first one

I hope unlocking cars to be a bit easy

I guess it was shipped out today... and arives at stores tomorrow

Buy it from Circuit City and you can get a $20 Xbox360 game free (things like Rockstar Table Tennis!).

Also like someone previously mentioned, the wireless wheel is now only $130 which isn't too bad.

Getting it on the 8th...damn the UK release dates!

I will put money on them already having copies in stores...but we now have to wait just over a week because of advertising and build up etc etc etc. Its like 'yes we know its coming, stfu and give it to us NOW instead of next month just so you can get more publicity, as youre putting off the people that will ACTUALLY BUY IT IN THE FIRST PLACE!'

Anywho, im getting it because i see it as gran turismo for the 360...and oh so many hours and lonely nights will be filled with the screeching of tires and the wurrring of body kit installations, to take my mind off the waiting for Bioshock and Assassin's Creed.

bought it yesterday!!
first impressions are very good... im really happy with it
if you liked the demo then you'll absolutely love the the full game
..i'll report back once ive spent more time with it! :)

not getting any games until I get a new TV, which will be in November,

I'm having my friend steal a copy from his Best Buy this weekend, he opens every morning making it easy to get small stuff out the door un-seen, I'm giving him a $20 to do it, so it's all good

I got it earlier today.

I must say, it is so much better than the demo. I'm absolutely stunned with the quality of it.

Thats my Eclipse.

I'll upload pics of my painted Evo IX tomorrow.

I hope your friend gets caught and fired.

It's at the top of my Gamefly Queue. I'm not HUGE into cars, I played GT4 for like 10 hours or so before I got bored and I figure the same will happen with this.

I hope your friend gets caught and fired.

I'm betting that he doesn't give a shit.

How good is the vehicle handling? Live for Speed good? Gran Turismo good? Need For Speed good?

*cough*liveforspeed*cough*

Is this coming to PC at all?

Don't have a 360, yet this looks ace to me from what i've read and watched.

weird.. its usually IGN that overrates games
but ive always trusted gamespot
9.2 sounds about right to me

<3 my Evo IX
I just started getting into the amature league earlier today, it's getting pretty tough.

Ive had it since release... but havnt had a ton of time to invest but what I have played is really good. I dont fork down $60 + for a game without having a strong feeling about its quality, I reccomend anyone thats into the "grand turismo" type games to give it a shot or rent it atleast. Theres online auctions so that could be very interesting for the more hardcore, personally I can't pry myself from wow to play my 360

It's so damn frustrating seeing everyone in the US/japan/etc loving their game, and we're stuck here waiting for it. F***S SAKE I CAN WAIT NO LONGER!

I hope your friend gets caught and fired.

Why would you want that? Because I've found a loophole in the system?

It's ok to be jealous Sidewinder

And don't do all that "supporting the developer" rubbish, I've bought Forza 1 maybe three times now and played it forever

Agreed. The fact it comes out in Europe later is just so ***king stupid. I mean why, just why apart from possibly advertisement would you have a later release date?

People in America will be completed and trading cars already by the time we come crawling in with our 1st buy minis.

3 times eh..?
you know karma's gonna getcha on this one right? the stolen game is probably gonna cause your 360 to die or something...
...but have fun :p

Oh god. I'm almost glad I don't have a 360 so I don't have to listen to the pissed off brits bragging about how great drivers they are and how much Americans can't drifve.

They will use this as salt. "I still won and you had the game for much longer - Stupid Yanks!"

The Europeans win by default because their cars are so much better than American cars. They will win anyway.

If the game was like real life in terms of repairs, most of the American cars wouldn't be in the races because of how much they break down.

Hey are there any games like Forza for the PC? Simulation racing games that feature production cars that you can upgrade?

Toca race driver 3 would be close, but it didn't come out in the US.

They should have released it here, I would have bought it immediately.

I would think it would be popular if they learn how to market it - change the name to something like Touring Car Race Driver 3 instead of Toca first of all...

Are you being an idiot on purpose, or is this really how you think?

Every car breaks down man. I've helped put engines in many hondas even.

American cars will stomp the shit out of anything in the world. Have you ever heard of this little place called USA?

We don't even buy that European crap. You have to take out a loan to fix them, we are talking $1,000's, most places won't touch them, you have to go to a dealership - if you can find one that sells Euros.

Honestly, never really liked Euro cars, but at least I was being respectful.

Seriously. I see a European car about 1 out of 5,000.

I can go down the get with an american car, get a talented mechanic to install new brakes, rotors, install a new clutch and master cylinder, do a timing belt and water pump for like $220 for labor.

A part that costs $20 for an american car might cost $300 for an import, so basically... yeh. If I was going to go with something with that much of a mark up, it would be the most reliable - Japanese cars.

My father had a porshe, and it was in the shop often and was really expensive to get fixed.

I actually pre-paid the full amount for this game, got the demo....decided the graphics weren't as good as they led everyone to believe, and i bought crackdown for the halo beta....

wow, european parts are expensive in the usa, virus? no shit?! ffs...

back to being on topic, the game is brilliant, and anyone who loves cars and racing needs it. the graphics are ok to good, but who gives a shit when the game plays like a dream? easily the best driving sim since lfs.

It's not my fault you guys can't drive. You're even on the wrong side of the road for f***s sake. :)

No, it's all imports. If it came in on a boat or plane, it might cost 8 times more than a domestic equivalent. It varies greatly though depending on the actual cost of the material, difficulty in manufacture, buying price for the dealer, and shipping cost (size/weight of the part/s), as well as availablity and how fast you need it. We do have salvage yards, which I go to whenever I need a part that doesn't need to be new. (interior parts, etc.)

However, Honda and Toyota, and possibly others have plants in the US, so they are pretty much immune to the high mark-up.

Been thinking about buying a 360 to play this game for about a year now. Still thinking about it. Might wait until it's old news so I can save a bunch.

American cars are cheap to fix, but break down alot. Imported cars (mostly Japanese and European cars), cost quite a bit to fix, but they break down a lot less.

I know this from experience. We have a Ford and a Nissan. We have had them for around the same time. The Ford costs us around $5000 to repair most of the stuff that was wrong with it (Transmission, body springs, fuel pump, and quite a few other things). The Nissan we have, has been running for 9 years and guess how much we spent on getting that fixed? $0. It still runs like new, there is nothing wrong with it, and beats the shit out of the ford. We bought both cars in 1998, and I can say that Ford really has gone downhill.

So that's why I hate American cars. They break down to much, they waste too much gas, and they are unreliable as a motor vehicle. I'm sorry but European and Japanese cars kick America's ass, in terms of build quality and reliability. It's my impression because of the experience I had with American vehicles.

Anyway getting back to Forza, Europeans already won.

virus, the game is awesome. i bought a 360 in february pretty much for three games: dead rising, forza 2, mass effect. in my impatience, i've bought a bunch of 360 games while waiting (gow, vegas, graw, saints row, etc.), but sold them all within a few weeks. if you love auto racing and cars, this, however, is worth the price of admission. for me, this has made owning a 360 worthwhile. i can't wait to see the dlc, too.

sell out!
but thats alright... you're looking at the wrong type of game if you're only interested in graphics anyways

But my experience is the exact opposite.

I broke threw a rod in a Saab by flooring the gas pedal 1 time.

I blew a cylinder in my mothers Honda accord by flooring the gas pedal to merge with the highway~ 5.5k RPM's.

My brother lost the engine in his honda.

We rebuilt it, and the engine died while breaking it in.

My other brother bought a Fiat that never made it home from the car dealer.

I've had a mazda that broke down once or twice a week, and ended up racking up almost 3,000 dollars in credit debt, then the transmission died.
I never had any problems with my volkswagen Golf, but my girlfriend totalled it with only 55k Miles, so who knows.

I have had some reliability with certain Japanese cars though, but for the most part - not so much.

Not making this up, this is my experience with the cars

And compared to that, we've had some Fords that never have anything wrong with them, besides a couple wear items after a lot of miles like a clutch, and have 110,000 - 250,000 miles on them, and still work absolutely fine.

My 1995 mitsubishi (now owned by GM) eclipse (made in USA by Diamond Star Motors [DSM] in 1994) has been really reliable, despite all my attempts at turning it into a racecar, and driving it like one.

If you had bad experiences then I understand - you feel the same way I do - just with opposite cars.

But I don't go around saying European or Japanese cars are junk because I don't think so. They aren't junk. For the most part they are good cars.

I hear people raving about Toyota quality often, but sometimes I hear that they are junk too. It's all in a person's experience with the cars.

Certain cars have more problems than others - there are good years for most cars.

However, if you really want to know how I feel - I don't trust the quality of cars from Hyundai, KIA, and other newer automakers. Anything else is cool.

If british cars are so great, for example, then why do over 1,000 of the car manufacturers no longer make cars?

http://www.britishmm.co.uk/index.asp said:
Histories of 1052 British Motor Manufacturers (with over 600 photographs) who were in business between 1894 and 1960, including those that never made it past the prototype stage.

How about American cars?

Just off the top of my head - Ford, Crysler, Dodge, Chevy, MACK, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Saturn, AMC, Cadillac, etc. Nearly all the original car manufacturers are still here. When they have been around this long, there are bound to be misconceptions about the technology being old, etc.

Sure there have been some lemons and some diamonds in the rough, and everything in between over the years, but they have had some legendary cars, and when you say they suck, I don't like it.

Sure Ferrari's and Lamborgini's, Lotus, Porshe, and other really nice European cars are fast and all, but they usually aren't practical to drive every day to work in traffic like our cars do.

They are also expensive as crap, and they don't offer so many types of vehicles.

For example, Ford and Chevy make sports cars, race cars, passenger cars, luxury cars, luxury trucks, economy cars, sports trucks, race trucks, SUV's, crossover SUV's, and work trucks.

While the european manufacturers Ferrari, Lamborgini, Lotus, and Porshe only make sports cars and race cars. So if your Ferrari, Lotus, Lamborghini, Aston Martin has 150 miles on it - and you never drove it in the rain, and it's been sitting in your garage for 10 years - sure it lasts a long time, and doesn't break down much.

We drive our cars in the worst weather, every day, stop and go, with much neglect thrown in because most people don't take care of their cars, since we didn't spend over 100,000 or a million dollars on them.

Whatever.

Thats all I'll say unless you guys want to discuss it some more.

I'm actually not a huge fan of American cars - I do like some of them, I never owned one. Finally they are getting turbo charged engines commonly in their sports cars but I like imports becuase they are usually less common, making them look a bit more unique or something. I owned many Japanese cars and one German Car. My next car might be american, although have always loved, and love more all the time - Subaru WRX,..
