    Vehicles in mods?

apparently not, have a look at DICE's new game (Battlefield world or something liek that). They have tanks and planes and jeeps and heaps of shit that they're stealing from Desert Combat...

    Gibs?

judging from the movies, human things don't spawn gibs in hl2... but that's not to say it can't be done by a hl2 mod!

New Mod looking for some help.

But everyone starts out as a newbie at some point. Why, you probably had an idea for a ww2/cyberpunk sas trooper mod when you were younger.. Though, to be honest, I think you guys actually enjoy reading these threads and flaming the n00bs, otherwise you wouldn't read this forums, right?

    New game type idea...

i loved marble madness :) you could probably make a game like this on the half life 1 engine, as you don't need havok physics to create player (or marble) movement & momentum. i think if you're going to use the hl2 engine, you could probably aim for something a little more "out there" in...

Source Physics Application for Map I want see

i somehow don't think hl2's physics are really suited to that sort of thing.. i mean, the havok system does a great job of making something look like it's physically simulated, but to try to apply it to a complex system like a roller coaster, i somehow doubt it'd work. you'd be better doing...

    Swordplay

i've had a go at doing some weapon based melee combat code for hl1, it's not very easy. i mean, to make a single-player sword fighting system is no prob, but when you start testing with latency, the prediction makes an awful mess of what is normally a very precise and accurate system :( i...

    possibilities of cameras

i read an article about some valve people showing off what they could do with hammer, by attaching a camera to a zombies head, then watching it walk around the level from a screen in the map. of course, the modders will figure out heaps of cool applications for this kind of thing!

    Blade runner....mod?

i love blade runner, i'm so inspired by the concept artwork syd mead did for that movie! there's a few good cyber-punk themed mods on the boil, i hope we see more 80's styled cyberpunk as well as the obligatory anime stuff :)

    Serious Mod Beginning Development

I don't think this forum is the best place to post looking for help for you mod.. most of the people in here are already working on a mod, or are too bitter and cycnical about mods to seriously thinking about joining one.. I know we didn't get any responses from our efforts in this forum...

Half-Life to be Updated with Source

haha... but the source engine is a quake engine! apparently, the hl1 engine and hl2 engine are so similar, you can port code/maps/etc with little effort!

Question about Originality vs. Insured Success

    c) none of the above i think the most important thing is; make your game fun to play. sometimes, the key to this is originality, and if you get this right, you're gaurenteed of getting a big fan base.. tho if you look at all the mods that made it big (think TF, CS, NS, DoD) they didn't...

Dystopia: Cyberpunk mod seeks modelers & artists

Using Half Life 1 (as stated on our website). It's been a surprising good platform for our testing, and seeing as valve have said the code is easy to port to hl2, i'm surprised more mods aren't doing it.

Dystopia: Cyberpunk mod seeks modelers & artists

Thanks Pendragon, I do it for the love of the game ;) Our implants system is fairly well balanced, with each of the 3 different TBC (Total Body Conversion) levels having different amounts of implant space, so the slower heavier players (who have more firepower) can only fit basic implants...
