No, I'm really not a fan (for the most part). Tastes differ, I guess *shrug*.
I think it was the 'Official Ending Poll' thread that you want to be flaming me in ... I'm looking forward to it :D
Yeah, I can understand that. I'm not a SW fan, but it seemed to me like the 'new' star wars were stuffed in, rather than planned for?
I'd hope for something a bit less trashy personally :)
I agree with this, I have no problems with the execution of it. Which part of what I said were you...
I guess that's a nice way of looking at it.
Prior to HL2, yes, but I'd argue they're driving the plot 'sideways' rather than 'forwards'. Who is Gordon? Who is the G-Man? On those questions, I'm no wiser! It's a bit like a hollywood sequel thing - "HL2 - STARRING GORDON FREEMAN AS YOU'VE NEVER...
It'll be a however-many-they-can-get-us-to-buy-ology. I don't honestly believe there's a grand 'plot arc' (has Laidlaw said differently?), so there's no reason it couldn't be 4/5/etc if the games sell.
HHGTTG : Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy. Advertised as a trilogy but wasn't one...
For the most part it's just a good running joke. There's no great meaning, apart from what HecticGlenn has described. Of course, if you enter 'give weapon_biozeminade' in the console you get the biozem gun but I think everyone knows that now.
Hated it. Cheap, cheap ending which I saw coming from about 30 miles away. Big anticlimax to a good game.
And to me the ending *should* answer some questions. What's the point of having a professional writer on-board and then not driving the plot forward (if indeed there is a plot for the...
It certainly is scripting - however its implemented is irrelevant, but much of HL2 works in terms of 'actor X do Y at Z time'. There's no room for emergence or variable behavior - it just follows the preset directions. To me, that's scripting - to insist that it's only scripting if it uses a...
Would seem a bit odd that the 'surprise' is an SDK though, which is only of interest to developers. DOD:S/CS:S updates are both expected and therefore not really surprises. HL2 level is good idea (and ATI stuff of course), I think they are most likely.
I guess I feel that HL2 is the better game now, but that HL1 was better for its time (if you see what I mean). HL2 still has too many scripted deaths for a modern game.
Other way around, if anything. HL2 has no (new) multiplayer and little replay value. GTA & H2 (at least) will outsell it significantly, and will still be doing so months down the line. Console is a *big* market!
