lol, i was gonna moan at you too about how its just gonna get lost as a normal thread, and should be in the sticky, but that video is so useful, i kinda dont care now :p
guys, his names Ichi, not Itchi or Ikhi, Ichi :p
lol, im surprised he hasnt mentioned it. about the model, it looks ok, but a little plain, plus the rear sight is awfully wrong. i posted a picture in the tutorials section a while back.
*edit* here it is, as its kinda hard to spot it in there.
it looks pretty nice, but not really worth the 1,100 polies. its not too hard to make the stock and handle a bit rounded, especially as youve got this far already.
keep it up man
you had to make a new thread just for that ? why didnt you just put it at the end of your other thread for the Stoner ?
...and did you look in the help section of Max before posting ?
ok, i was an ass, but thats exactly what youre trying to get at, the fact that you can model characters and most of the others on these forums cant. if you were polite, and not quite so rude about it then i wouldnt really have a problem, its just that was your 4th post or there abouts, so it...
thanks apo :p ( i think that was a compliment :| )
err anything, aslong as its an original character and we can crit it...how about a texture too, i hope you can texture or ill start complaining about how all of these models on here are untextured !! ( :dozey: )
i dont like the way you...
whoever asked that question about CS2 being free or costing money, i think itll be costing you something, as will TF2 and anything else that comes through valve, with a 2 at the end :p
about this CS:S stuff, i think the doctor gave a very good reason. in reponse to your comment about they...
well why dont you make one and show it to us ?
and if you come up with some smart-ass answer or arnt a modeler at all, then i will rip your arms off and shove them down your throat.
you cant get much extra detail onto guns using normal maps. almost all the things thatll make it accurate are handles, holes and whatnot, which basically need geometry to look good.
i really dont think its necessary to use the poly by poly method for a knife. its too simple. its looking good though, just fix the smoothing groups, and if possible change the sharpness of the renders.
yeha, in the little skinning i know, the noise filter is a must for any metal. it gives it the 'pore' look that mindless was describing. as a base for the metal, use clouds ( depending on the program being used ) to give the final skin more variation.
check out these
really good skinning...
the inclusion of plasma rifles obviously shows its not based on todays technology and therefore time. things can change quite quickly, but most of all, who says its trying to be realistic.
my opinions are that it sounds quite cool, as long as you dont turn it into some RTCW/UT2k4 mix, with...
that looks really nice there man. keep it up, its all good practice. for your second model, its really good, very clean mesh. theres a few places where polies could be dropped, but for now, concentrate on finishing it :)
lol crabcakes, i was just thinking about that too. yes, to elaborate on what crab said...you are running CS now on a PC about 3-4 times the power of those that were running HL1 when it came out. in about 5 years from now, everybody should be able to run CS:S and HL2 like HL1 is run now, with...
tsorry then Ryoga, its just ive heard that kind of thing a lot before. if youd said that first, then id understand. sorry again.
PS. i really need to watch your tuts Ichi so i know what all these people are talking about :p
no offence, but that may be the stupidest thing ive ever heard, and if stupid is the wrong word, then annoying.
what do you mean by something of use to you ? everybody's first models are crap, but they are crap for a reason, to learn. its not going in a mod, so it doesnt really matter, and...
