Charlie Sheen would gaurantee the film to be a failure, he's a two-bit actor who makes two-bit films. I see a HL film as being very similar to the Die Hard movies. It would be a kind of cross between Die Hard and The X Files (programme not movie)
James Cameron for director. He needs a new...
the GF 4MX card is a DX8 card with all its main features stripped out to make it cheap. In essense its a DX7 card. It has no pixel shader technology in it. I know, i just dumped one for a 9800np
The big difference between DX8 and 9 is that ATI owners will champion DX9 whilst Nvidia owners will champion DX8 knowing that its inferior.
I like to move forward in life not sit there like my dad claiming that life was better in his day.
Never say never, Source looks like a seriously good engine not only graphically but in scaling for lower end machines. The Doom 3 engine needs some power behind it. Developers may jump ship if they feel that the Doom 3 engine will cut out large potential markets.
I think that one reason for...
just installed steam 1.0
I seem to no longer have a HL2 media section and all my movies have disappeared. HELP!!!!
Shouldn't it be downloading new media or something
Exactly!!
Nvidia Cards for DX8 and Open Gl
ATI for DX9
I know where the future of game is. DX will always be king because its at the heart of Windows and Microsoft.
Open GL is ok but lacking features and DX8 is dead. Nvidia need a new card...end of story.
The Sims...now theres an expansion pack. Kill the neighbours, see them explode. My new next door neighbour is Mr Strider. Hello Mrs Combine fancy a cup of tea. :)
Duke Nukem is going to look so old when is finally arrives. The last I heard it was based on the old Unreal engine. Mmm Nice :( If they moved it to Source everyone waiting would have a long long time to wait.
For me SOF is the daddy when it comes down to shot impact. No other game has the same feeling of firepower when you hit someone. Enemies in other games just soak up gunfire with a few red sprites for blood. In SOF they literally get ripped apart, it actually felt bad to shoot the fallen bodies...
yeah but at the presentation they said that HL2 would be the future benchmark for gaming and it will be out 30th Sept. The stand alone is a separate thing, I agree. I think people are getting confused by the wording and are thinking that the benchmark isn't released until the 30th.
Halflife2 is the benchmark! They mean that HL2 will be used as a future benchmark for DX9! Am I the only who reads it like that. The benchmark is released on the 30th, yes its the game!!!
What game series do you think will or should move to the Source engine. With the Doom3 engine still in the distance and needing some serious kit to run it, some developers are bound to jump ship. I personally would like to see a new Soldier of Fortune with it. Imagine Ghoul and Havoc working...
as long as the frame sticks at about 25-30 fps your laughing. I always thought that games were better at rates higher than that until recently. I just played through 'Chaser'. The game ran beautifly on my then 4MX card, no snags or slowdown with everything up high. I wasn't until found out how...
I don't think the new drivers are going help those NVidia Cards. ATI's cards were built from the ground up for DX9. Nvidia's FX Range are just 4200/4600's with a bolt-on feature set. The render paths for DX9 on the Nvidia cards are just a mess, all a driver can do is optimise these paths not...
Its says on the much streamlined steampowered download page that existing users of steam will not need the 500k installer as there version will auto update. Is this true? thats what it says
