Y'know, they didn't make up the word "gluon". madFive, the gluon gun was never intended to "glue" things, it was intended to do exactly what it does - annihilate matter.
Gluons are the messenger particles for the strong force which is what is responsible for holding atomic nuclei...
Just 'cause he's got Gordon working for him doesn't mean he's a good guy. Perhaps he is misleading Freeman. He didn't exactly give him a choice, y'know.
Nah. I think the animation in Half-Life 2 is sufficiently good enough to look pretty much completely human. Besides, the Uncanny Valley may not even exist. I personally doubt that it does, though I can see the reasoning behind it.
Edit: Wraith, did you read the whole article?
Since the Vortigaunts now seem to be allies, I think it's very possible that most or all of the more intelligent (i.e. not headcrabs, barnacles, bullsquids etc.) Xen aliens could be allies. It'd be pretty damn cool to have a friendly Garg fighting the Striders with you.
So... being foreign is a reason enough to not upset about 9\11? I'm confused... Still, it wasn't a good comparison.
Anyway, how much could they "preload" before they have to release the final game? Wouldn't maps, models and stuff be loaded to public computers after the game was released...
There's a ten character limit on your post. Which means you have to type ten letters (or symbols) or more per post. So if someone wants to be short or terse, they have to throw some extra stuff in there to make it ten characters.
Hectic, you should play Half Life. It's really cheap after five years and it's still an awesome game. It's much better to play through it than to read some summary on a website.
Just my two cents.
I think it's a great feature. I'm playing through Far Cry right now and I have a tendancy to run out of ammo. No ammo = dead me. It'll be nice not to have to search for the ammo readout.
Does anyone else think that it should have been City 14 (or 12) instead of 17, in order to keep with the whole science\chemistry theme?
12 C and 14 C are carbon isotopes.
Actually, Don, the most intriguing part of zero-point energy is that it even exists in a vacuum at absolute zero (though, technically, vacuum (in space) is about three degrees above absolute zero.). It's all very complicated, but it involves virtual particles and quantum fluctuations...
Hazar, I coulda sworn I heard it referred to as the "zero-point gun" at some point. I don't know where it was though, so if someone could help out, I'd appreciate it.
Hey everyone. I'm just gonna hop in here and mention this... The manipulator supposedly uses zero-point energy, right? Well, if that's the case (and I know that Valve could change this if they wanted to) then it wouldn't make sense for the gun to have ammo. Zero-point energy is the amount of...
My brand new, badass laptop should handle HL2 just fine. UT2k4 runs like a dream.
Pentium M 2.0 Ghz processor
1 gig of RAM
Radeon 9600, 128 MB
It's so nice, especially compared my old comp which has a GeForce 2 and 256 mb or RAM. Proccy is okay at 2 Ghz, though I think this Pentium M...
Another scientific term for ya - the Gluon Gun. Gluons are the strong force messenger particles. The strong force is what holds atomic nuclei together, so it is entirely appropriate that the gluon gun vaporizes people (ie, weakens the strong force).
