Are you using the "S" key or trying to use O, Z, and P ? I find that the S key is a better alternative, and heads off the lens issues. Also it keeps the major functions all on the left hand instead of both left and right hands.
Bottom line guys there is no ultimate system, there is amazing...
There is no one difference there are lots of little ones and if you really like how one works those little differences will drive you crazy. That said as you seem to be new to modeling I would suggest both, it never hurts to know more than one package. Of course realistically you can't learn...
hmm this is odd I've had no trouble doing smoothing groups, are you guys actually building the maps ? I mean you won't see anything unless you build the map with lighting, then you should see a difference. As far as using a model, post on the help wanted forum I bet somebody could make one for...
As to the first one it seems like you might have a bunch of duplicate geometry hiding somewhere like you copied something and forgot to move it then copied both things over and over again, possibly something tied to an entity. You might try running the compile without rad or vis and see if you...
You could probably do it, but at the same time you could probably write a quantum particle simulation into the engine, it just doesn't serve a particular purpose and would eat up all the power of the system. If you have the expertise to create a system as advanced as the natural motion system...
As a Certified Jackass I'm going to stick my nose in here just to clear something up.
Shaders starting with DirectX8 took over the traditional T&L as well as the raster stage, T&L stands for Transform and Lighting. transform is the process whereby any point is positioned in the world...
Just an added note on Fast VIS, I've found that pathing issues can arise when using it. I generally use no vis rather than fast, though this will become a problem as you start adding more geometry.
No flamewars, perhaps I'm in the wrong as I've not used Maya 6 very much, but my experience in 5 was that it was easier to just smooth the polygons rather than dealing with the rather frustrating Sub-D system. I probably should give Maya 6 a spin but there are only so many hours in the day, and...
I'm sorry could you be more specific ? Rather than us both being dicks I'd like to suggest we take a chance to learn from each other. I imagine you are probably more familiar with Maya than I am, and I imagine I'm more familiar with XSI than you, so if you have something you like from Maya...
I do want to slightly disagree on the analysis of education, basically I want to add the caveat that there are some teachers who tend toward a program agnostic view that provides you with insight into the art rather than purely the mechanics. I would also advocate traditional art, there is much...
the mod tool requires you to re-activate the SMD exporter just go here:

You should be able to import it into the XSI mod tool, I believe it might even go straight from LWO into it, but you can't get it out of the exp format once you've imported it. If lwo doesn't work you could use obj though I'm not 100% sure that will export bone weightings so you might have to do...
I could be wrong but I think you want to make a vcd in Face Poser if you want that many actions. Or you could do a bunch of sequences one on top of the other.
