Has anyone tried *these* tilting controllers for PC yet? How do they play? Unfortunately I don't think many PC devs designed anything with 'tilting' in mind. It will be cool to see tech like this become standard in consoles.
Best (good, not really best) case scenario:
Love-it-or-hate-it visuals with slightly clichéd art style. Fun and on the simple side with "kill lots of monsters" gameplay (while walking on walls and ceilings if I understand correctly). B-action movie story plus lots of levels and bosses. High...
Wireless, pressure sensitive, gyroscopic, controllers with voice command sounds good. I guess it's the next logical step for game consoles: to include all this stuff that's been developed in the last little while. It certainly is an evolution for consoles. To be honest, I was hoping for it to...
First I would like to say that I'm really excited about this game.
I think the graphics (particularly the textures) are not yet at a 'good' standard. I'm sure they will improve over time as it gets polished up (monsters wouldn't be called unrealistic and stupid if they looked like*this* would...
I thought the 33% indicated the time that would pass in the game. HL2 was supposed to be 3 days playing (with a week instantaneously passing by) so I think that means that Aftermath all takes place in one day. The actual amount of playing hours isn't really certain in this sense.
Yeah I know what you're saying on both accounts, but I was more thinking that HL2 forgot some of the things that made HL1 good. I think Valve wanted to keep 'simple' gameplay to a minimum-- you walk in a room, there's a bullsquid and you shoot it. This kind of gameplay, to me, worked well in HL1...
161) more time in one area to really get the feel of it (like HL1) instead of too much jumping around.
162) more natural feeling time (HL2 was 3 playable days in 20 hrs). Maybe only one day with 10 hours (don't make the sun set so quickly).
163) more time with characters and more lines to...
I hate to take this thread off-topic, but did people find HL2 to be 'samey'? I thought it was one of the few games that avoided that. From the beginning to end we had: a chase scene, close-quarter gunfights, vehicles, large area gunfights, physics puzzles, character interaction, scary zombie...
This is the problem with art, it is too subjective and too open to bias to actually debate about quality and value. A good comparison seems to be the Japanese stroll gardens.
There are well constructed gardens that lead the viewers senses, that use sound, shapes, smells, and colour at...
I guess this is my explaination:
There are lots of personal opinion (yes, even trolls' opinions count)-- but there can be no right answer which game this year is best. The fact is that nothing in history is universally loved-- Mother Teresa was a great person but there are some people who think...
Please, please don't bring Steinbeck into this. It's ironic that you would try to do this, though, since Steinbeck was a writer who was actually criticized by some people for his style of storytelling (like Kubrik in the film industry, Frost in poetry, Rousseau in philosophy, Monet in art-- I'm...
I like it the way it is. 'Hollywood' stories where everything is shown to you are fun to watch but I like a bit of variety. If all stories followed the same style it would get very boring very fast. HL3 will probably have a completely different story style than HL2 which had a completely...
With the mouse (in an FPS) you aim at something with your hand and press a "trigger". With a touch screen monitor you poke at who you want to die. I think that the mouse will feel a lot closer and more natural to combat and is probably more fun too.
I was just thinking about this. It could be sort of like a director's cut version of HL2. After looking at some things that were cut I can see that some truly did not belong (for example a boat-ride in the beginning sucks compared to the trainstation intro) while other things were cut due to...
Graphics don't look too good but that can be polished up easily. To me this game looks more fun than STALKER since it will have (or at least shows) a story, characters (and ability to drink with them), different factions that play into the story, side quests and missions-- stuff that make RPG's fun.
There's been quite a bit of content for multiplayer but nothing for SP (directly from Valve, that is). In MP we've gotten HL2DM, HL2DM updates with new weapons and stuff, and a bunch of CS:S maps and updates. I think the only SP thing will be ATI level. The community stuff has been pretty good...
I think Valve went in a whole other direction with HL2-- eatern-european urban environments vs. underground lab. They are incredibly different settings and I'm sure Valve intentionally created that difference. The problem with that is that people have preferences with their environments, both in...
