i don't understand your first line of thought.... "1 can turn into a 2 at some point"
i just don't understand that statement at all....and nobody skipped over your posts...they were directly addressed and refuted.
i've said this before, but i'll say it again.
the mathematical statement...
i've seen methods scientists have developed that didn't use a compass to align the pyramid...it involved the sun and shadows...and their method was about as accurate as the pyramid...a few minutes off.
and if aliens built it, why would they be off at all? wouldn't they be incredibly precise...
and bahahahahha
i just realized the biggest contradiction in your argument...
your argument RELIES on infinity! .9 repeating MEANS 9's forever...9's to infinity. so you just used a number that relies on infinity to define itself to prove that infinity doesn't exist....way to go.
people who say "there is no infinity" are apparently incapable of understanding what infinity is...or what it means.
infinity, in this case (.9 repeating = 1), is a mathematical term.
of course there is mathematical infinity. i challenge anyone to give me a number that i can't divide or...
the problem with your statement is when you said "accurate decimal representation"
a repeating decimal number is not equal to the fraction it is sometimes said to represent....stop thinking like your calculator :)
like i said...
.3 repeating requires the "repeating" attached to it...or a...
lol...zombies + WWII does = retarded....i was gonna say that but i forgot.
the game was cool until the zombies came....just like Far Cry will probably be cool until the zombies come...just like hl2 was cool until you went to Xen....just like S.T.A.L.K.E.R will be cool until zombies come (if...
like i said....
.9 repeating is a concept...
.9 is a decimal
.999999999999 is a decmial
.999999999999999999999999999999999999 is a decimal
.99999999999999999999999999 -------> forever and ever ....a concept.
did you just make two points, coolio? i don't get what you're trying to say...
and your "common sense" doesn't really apply to this situation....
of course .9 will not equal 1. but they're trying to say that if you add an infinite number of 9's on the end of that, it equals 1...which...
i don't really get the plane experiment...how does that prove anything? if the clocks in the planes are measured relative to each other, then why bother having 2 planes and not just having a clock on the ground?
and if the clocks are measured relative to their ground speed, then why have 2...
you can prove that .9 repeating equals one on paper, but it's not true.
like others have said...infinity is a concept...so proving that an infinitely long string of 9's after a decimal is proving a concept is equal to one, which isn't valid.
believe me, when i was in calc 2, i discovered...
that doesn't hurt your brain if you've taken calculus :)
and einstein predicted the "chronometers" thing. the faster you go, the slower time moves for you...
therefore if you took a super-accurate timepiece and put it in orbit around the earth moving very very fast...and you kept one...
yep...seems like doom3 will be doom1+2 with sweet graphics....which, while nice, isn't exactly going to provide the most immersive and exciting storyline/gameplay...but who knows...maybe it will be really really cool...guess we'll just have to wait :P
what about the conservation of mass/energy? if you changed times, you'd be subtracting mass/energy from your time and adding it to another time. that would mean that we're wrong about the conservation of mass/energy...or that traveling back in time doesn't require you to leave the universe :o...
get netlimiter...no spyware involved...period...great program.
you can throttle the bandwidth for every program...individually.

it's carmack's work, not the greatness of opengl, that make doom3 look great....
if carmack and id were developing for directx, they'd make an engine that looks just as good...
and i think the "show off" screens from both games look great....doom has nice shadows and the crytek engine has...
warbie, if you read my post more carefully, you'd have realized that was referring mostly to the single player aspects of these games...like in my 2nd post
so i'm not attacking your precious RTCW multiplayer...just id's ability to produce anything other than engines and tweaked gameplay of...
