For the most part. I think i am going to RMA my video card in hopes of getting a replacement that will softmod. I might wait a bit and just get what ever comes next in the mid range level.
I have to say im not sure yet. radeon 9500 + 2500(clocked at 2100mghz(10.5x200, 3000+) + 512 single channel ddr400 I will probally run 640x480 or 800x600 max detail. Online play i would drop the detail down to med probally to ensure no frame dips. yuk.
Alright. For CPU's it is going to be a case of getting a more complex trasistor tech. Because we are getting transistors down to the size of 90nm and smaller, sooner or later we aren't going to be able to get them any smaller at all. To understand this you need basic grip on binary code...
FSB = front side bus
640k i is the size of the L1 and L2 cache on a barton core put togehter.
i dont understand the 3rd question.
xp2800 is The pr rateing assigned to that cpu by amd. Because amd chips run so much faster at a lower clock rate it would be impossible to sell them other wise...
If you are runing a 1.5 i would have to say new cpu and video card and maybe a bit more ram.
CPU : Athlon 2400+
Ram : 256 pc2100
VGA : 9500 pro OR 9700 OR 9800
This should get you the best preformance possible. If you get the 9500 pro it will cost about $300. If you get the 9700 it...
Thank you for posting this. I havent had a problem because im behind the fire wall with my router, but i was trying to get a cs scrim yesterday and 2 guys kept have this problem.
doesn't the 9600 non pro out preform the 9500 non pro? i can't remember. Damn shitty ass memory, I can't remember what crazy post i made 40 seconds ago.
a radeon 9500 will run HL2 fine. there was a email reply form gabe a while back about this. The guy had a 9500 pro, gabe said it would be able to run 1024x768 at maxium detail above 40 fps. So, running at 800x600 you would be great. Don't let people with too much money and bad additudes...
Intel > amd
Thats mostly true for prices. The barton 2500+ is the bets bang for the buck around as far as cpu's go. AMD try's to keep the core sizes less that 100mm^2, which is part of how they can keep their prices so low. the barton core is 102mm^2, so don't expect the prices on them to...
I just don't see how it takes time to build a computer. For me i didn't really spend that much time doing research, becaue i read that stuff for fun serveral hours everyweek anyways.
The long part is installing window. That takes a good 45-75 minutes. It's relaxing though, as apose to...
decent water cooling systems can be found for about $200. But i do belive if you select your own parts that you could probally get the price down to about $150. I personally wouldn't recomend water cooling unless your mad overclocking, because the prices are high and if you mess up you would...
yeah, well, my computer is 1,000,000^1,000,000 thz. WEEEEEEEEEE. guinny, im sorry, but im afraid you aren't going to able to run your HL2 with 512x aa and 1024x af above 200 fps.
