I just did a write up on LCD monitors in my blog (in my sig) and I advise anyone thinking about buying one go check it out, you'll find that not all monitors are made similiar. There is a good post on Hard Forum but Im too lazy and its in my blog anyway.
I was researching this exact same thing and I came across a good benchmark someone did and the results were only like 1-3% decrease when using 4x1gb vs 2x2gb so you should be okay if you went that route
The x1950xt is a very good directx9 card but with the new 3850 and 3870 you may want to look into those if your on a budget.
Theres a post on another forum that talked about how AMD wants to lower the price on the 3000 series already so you may be in luck.
Yeah it is probably a better idea to not jump on the DDR3 bandwagon just yet - high latencies and way overpriced. You could spend quite a bit less for a equally good computer.
I heard that Nvidia was just doing a "refresh" of the Geforce 8 series and after the "New" cards come out, the hierarchy will remain the same:
8800GT<8800GTS<8800GTX<8800Ultra
Same saming just all new cores (G92)
That is how I see Nvidia going about it.
Please correct me if I am wrong
Have you used any Linux Distributions lately?
I was on Ubuntu then Linux Mint and then Mandriva 2008 and they have all been AWESOME.
After the simplest OS installation Ive ever done, all my hardware was already set up and all the programs I needed were already there.
Im just saying that I...
I was thinking about doing the same thing and here are a couple good articles:

I was thinking about hooking up the DB2 Antenna to a Fusion RT Gold card.
Dang I was really wishing AMD could deliver something competitively, not only to buy but to encourage Intel to put out better processors. Example: Nvidia
Is this common? I was noticing that the stupid menu takes forever to load up as well. It will sit on "Loading" for like 5 min. It seems longer than any other Valve game that uses the 3d background system.
Not really... I have never really cared for firewalls they just seem to block everything so I just usually delete them or turn them off. When I installed Vista I left the default firewall on and it seems to be non obtrusive.
