I disagree with much said. First, that they delayed for the holidays to make more $. Wouldnt that be obvious to them way back in July when they annoucned such a set in stone date of 9/30/03. And it doesnt gurantee more money anyway, it would have more time on the shelf before competitors...

eh Vivendi has no say when Valve will release, so its still coming out the 30th IMHO. Until Gabe Newell himself goes online with live video feed and says its delayed. (kidding of course) too bad

I really think the two major reasons HL2 is delayed is Steam and nVIDIAs poor performing drivers (possibly the cards themselves...?) I mean, they want Steam to be THE THING for many years to come. I am still thinking it has everything to do with Steam. It is quite obvious that Steam can barely handle simple upgrades (some upgrades bout 8mb in size take near an hour to get, even though I max out at a bit over 500KBs, not 100kbps (BIG diff)). It might also explain why Spitdfry saw...
