can you prove that this gun has as many polys as you say it does?
because i have this skin (its part of Fusion Pack SE final) and i dont lag one bit with it. (my computer is old)
If i was on a mod with no skinners, id actually learn to skin [which i did] or i would recruit a skinner, i wouldnt just add more detail to my weapon, thats exactly why people make skins, to get rid of detail in the mesh.

Well, it really depends, how long have u used the others for? did u get used to any of them? because comparing different 3d modelling programs is like apples and oranges. If you get used to MAYA, then get 3DS Max, 3DS Max wont even look like a modelling program anymore, you wont know what to do...
i was finding a way to get it hosted, but now im thinking of completely redoing the tutorial, it skips too much couse im on a lagtop, and ill try adding some more stuff to it
-you need to clarify a little better what you meant by grooves-
do u mean:
1.)the gripping grooves (the ones thats you grip with your fingers when pulling the slide back)?

2.)the interlocking groves that keep the slide from coming off of the gun?

heres what i did- i found a couple big referances as such, [note: the pictures were resized by the websites hosting the images, because they were too big]
i used this one for main referance, and see this one is different from most berettas because the shields on each side of the handle are...
i just made a quick 30 min tutorial, has no sound, but will teach you about the shellac material, HDRi imaging (setting up a background), and the Brazil r/s skylight feature.
