Yeah it was.. a little dissapointing. I am really hoping that the next game will come out quickly using the current source engine. Valve has stated they want to do some quick projects so maybe with luck they will continue the story using the current engine. It's certainly pertty enough for...
hahahahah.. MY COUSINS NEPHEWS DOG DID IT!!!!!
Seriously, if you guys think this guy didnt' try the hack..
It's not just entering the key, it's a drawn out process to get the thing to work. After the process completes you still can't play, but Valve has the whole thing logged. That is why...
Not sure if this will help anyone, and I don't know if it has been suggested or not. But changing my AGP aperature to 512mb (half of my system ram) completely got rid of the sound stuttering for me.
Ok for those of you that crash over and over again at the same spot.. TURN OFF AA!!! I was stuck at the teleporter. Turned off 4xAA (which defaulted to on) and 3 HOURS OF PLAY WITH NO CRASHES!!!
I hope this works for more than just one person!
Cheerio!!
I hope this works for you. I of course having an LCD screen am trying to play in my native resolution 1680x1050.. it is the same as my desktop. No dice.
It sounds like the people that are having the problem when HL2 is loading the plaza start screen, have a corrupted file that can be fixed with a download. Those of us that have a crash in a specific spot in the game, are having a different issue, with the same memory read error.
Grrrrr... VU
Not that I didn't try that... twice now. I'm just glad I have a 5mb connection unlike some people :(
I'm done with this game until they patch it.
Strange that didn't work for anyone else. Not that it makes much difference to me.. I refuse to play a game that is this beautiful in 640x480 when I have a kick ass widescreen display to play it on :(
Ok everyone. Try changing your Resolution.
I just set mine at 640x480 and immedietly went through the location that I was stuck at. I changed it BACK to my native widescreen resolution (LCD, 1680x1050) and the game IMMEDIETLY crashed with this memory error. My video card is not overclocked...
I believe you get no error message because you don't have SP2 installed. Try installing SP2 and you will see the same error message if what I've been reading is correct.
Ok so I copy the files from half-life 2/bin back one directory to /half-life 2
And then move that entire folder back into /bin?
Why not just copy /half-life 2/ forward into /bin?
As I mentioned earlier, I am also crashing at the teleporter. I can play CS Source fine, HL Source as well. I have an Athlon 64 on an MSI 7030 w/a geforce. This is definitely a software problem. No way this many people would be experiencing it if it was hardware.
