2 new pics have been posted. Real? Who knows.

I dunno. . .He would have to be a REALLY fast photoshoper.

looks fake to me... the CD alyx looks totally photoshopped, and the box has all the old screenshots from over a year ago, even with the since-removed hydra, i doubt they use those on the cd box.

all these are pissin me off now,
and tbh i cant tell if there photoshopped or what

My god, here I am. I post something saying how sad the steam guys are.. . .and here I am getting all excited over this. Im probably an idiot for it too. . .most likely fake.

they're coming outta the fricking woodwork, commie pinko bastards, down with the reds!

Why are parts erased? That alone doesn't lend much to the credibility

He says its blurred out due to an NDA whether this is true or not. . .I dont know.

Not only would he have to be REALLY quick at photoshopping. He'd also have to be EXTREMELY talented. Look at the box. Look at near the thumb the imprint and the realistic crack of the cardboard. Look at the sheen on the manual. Only thing questionable is the grey area coming off the right side of the manual.

Actually I forgot you could zoom in to the picture and put it at its natural resolution. After doing that I'm completely sure that box is real. The CD can go either way. Though I'm sure its just a real copy of the game for a reviewer or something.

Also, the CD-picture is, that's right, a CD. Weren't HL2 supposed to come on 6 CD's? And there's no way that 6 CD's fit inside that DVD-armaray case.

He says he has the DVD and CD versions

Nonetheless, there is no ESRB Rating on the box, or any rating in that matter...

He now claims he has tons of pics. Im not going to get excited. . .but me might have something here.

Fake! 100%. No one has a copy yet. Unless he works for valve.

Your probably right, but how can you be so certain?

Fake. Super old picture of a strider; very doubtful valve would include that.

You dont even need to look at the hl2 box to know its fake. Look at the keyboard. Doesnt it look to animated? Never seen a keyboard look like that.

Yea, I think he just screwed himself over in the post.

My guess is that it is a "reserved copy box". Sims 2 had something similar here in Sweden, and you got a sample CD with it with some goodies to watch. If you look at the first pic, theres a flap on the upper base, folded towards us. In the second pic, the flap is on the other side of the upper base, but the artwork still shows Gordon. Which means that the front and back has the same art.
I guess the reason he blurred some part of the box and the CD is because they said something about it being a "reserve box" or a "sample CD".

There you have it.

Reminds me of the fake Doom 3 pics going around before release, they had 6 cd's which were found to be fake later.

Guys, its fake. And if he claimed that he had taken tons of in-game screenshots, then why are we here talking about this when everyone who purchased over steam (majority of you), would be playing it right now?

Because, we still have to wait for a official word from valve. Either claiming its fake or its real and theyre unlocking it.

The first box looks fake, the second one looks real. The lighting effects are too good, and would take too long to PhotoShop this quickly. Lighting takes time and perspective of an image, and talent at that. Do I think he is telling the truth? Quite honestly, yes I do.

The two box pics are different from one another. One of them has logos, the other has a rating.

Theyre 2 different boxes. The dvd and the cd box . . . .I think

Taylor Sherman just arrived - looks like even Valve isn't sure if it's real or not.

Taylor, an official member of Valve. Has recently posted this :

If real -> send to us, don't post, banned"

So we will have to wait to see if this is fake or not.

its not photoshopped, believe me I use photoshop for a living, its a press copy for review purposes, probably the son/daughter of a game mag or company/website

Tork, that was a draft, not of what the real CD is supposed to look like. As well, it's not an American edition, it has "Made In Australia" on it.

Photohopped people. It doesn't even look real. And if that is a real box, then he made it himself. Good lighting effects, but not good enough.

fake fake fake. you can always tell because they use screenshots that are available on the internet
