no but what happens when the military and police are used to suppress it's own people, and we have no guns?

Are we in Civil War now? If we aren't, I can't see why both the Military and police would be suppressing its people.

I think he was speaking hypothetically..

but can you imagine what the South would do if you tried to take away their "God-given" right to own guns? some pissed off rednecks!!

seriously though guns are not alive so how the hell do they go around killing? oh yeah...PEOPLE using the guns is how deaths occur...

ban people!

/me has come to terms with the existence of accidents in the world. He knows that bad stuff is going to happen to people. He also knows that while these things are horribly tragic, one shouldn't let them warp your view of the world as much of the time they make no sense.

Gun owners are people in the same way that the NRA is made of people and the government is made of people. Theres no one reason that the own a weapon, no one reason why they support ownership, and no one reason why these things happen. Trying to classify and force labels onto these things in people just gets everyone pissed off and farther away from a solution.

Heh, that picture is pretty funny. Everyone but 1 person around the dead guy is too stoned to really even notice.

Alright, it was kind of funny :p

.....but in a horrible way
It just seemed a little odd to me that only one person in a group of 10 is even aware that a dead person is right there. Oh, and there is also another guy who looks incredibly confused and lost in the background, who is looking in the general direction of the corpse.

can it be possible that as an american you have no clue as to what the kent state massacre is all about? It's part of YOUR history.

MOST people in the world have no knowledge of history..the schools teach a very edited and dumbed down version of history for the most part

sorry..part of my problem is that I listened to my grandfather who was born in 1910 about a lot of the shit he lived through..instead of relying on websites for my info..

Kent State..Hippie hunting from what I understand..god bless the morons in charge of the world throughout history..

why haven't the bad presidents and leaders been assassinated? only the peaceful types for the most part..Martin Luther King Jr.,Ghandi(sp?),so many others

Yeah I know, I know. To be honest I kind of chuckled, but I still felt horrible. Ah well :p

I know what it is about, we learned about it in school. Living in liberal Minnesota we learned more about the protests than we did the war, infact we learned almost nothing about the war at all.

That can never happen with me.

Haha, classic

I know none of my classes "cut" that sort of thing out. We too spent more time on the social impact of vietnam and korea than on the wars themselves.

its the guns and the people, not just the people, the two go hand in hand, its just that guns obviously make it more easily accessible to do more damage, if you make it harder for these people, rather than taking on the near impossible task of rounding them all up in insane asylums then most likely it will be more difficult for the individual to cause harm to others or himself so easily.

By this logic why not make it difficult or impossible for irresponsable idiots to do ANYTHING?! We cant possibly allow ANYONE to use a pogostick, because we all know, eventually some idiot will try going down the stairs with one, fall over the railing and kill himself, and maybe even land on an old lady and her dog killing them as well. Admitedly this is a poor example, but its just here to illustrate that the logic can be applied to anything and everything.

We cannot idiot proof the world. We shouldnt take and/or limit the rights of honest, responsable people because some minority of people are too stupid and irresponsable to have them. I for one dont want to live in a world where every surface is covered in hazard tape and warning labels. Darwin award winners are still gonna kill themselves in stupid and outrageous ways, no matter how much we try to limit and warn against the harmful elements of life.

Personal responsability is a major part of every single aspect of life no matter what you are doing/using/operating etc. People need to learn to look both ways before crossing the street, without a ****ing sign telling them to. People need to check how hot thier ****ing coffee is before burning off thier tastebuds, and people need to check behind ****ing targets when they are using firearms, especially when children are present.

We could limit our rights and water down life to the point that we couldnt possibly harm ourselves or others or hurt each others feelings, and some idiot will still accidently kill someone or himself. Dont let the idiots dictate our lives, dont bend the world to thier idiotic whim and folley.

Fact is though, guns are made to shoot (I would write kill, but people do use them on ranges as a sport), whereas pogosticks were made to bounce..

Quit bouncing around the house! You'll poke someones eye out with that thing! Quit playing with that stick! You'll poke someones eye out with thing! Quit playing with that bat, you'll break a window with that thing!

Our parents steered us towards violence with even the most simple objects, by putting ideas in our head of the possibilities... the possibilities.

now, don't play with fire, you might burn down that goverment complex there.

yep :D

Its the people that kill the people.. The 2nd ammendment protects the rights of Senceful intelligant and responsible gun owners. Not these dumb idiots on a feild. this man should go to jail for a long time. but you do not PUNISH the ones who are responsible!

SHooting, bouncing, driving, flying, running, jumping, walking...all dangerous actions when done in a dangerous manner. Im not gonna use the ol' slippery slope argument and say that if we let "shooting" be banned, eventually everything that could be preceived as dangerous will be banned. But the fact is, if there is the slightest chance someone can harm or kill themselves or others doing something...some idiot(s) will, and there are enough douchebags out there to "do something about it" and try thier best to prevent ANYONE from (insert verb/noun here)

There is nothing I despise more than individuals that cannot take responsibility and refuse to be held accountable for their own actions.
Guns, Knifes, spears, even guided missiles do not kill, they are inanimate objects. The total responsibility for the killing of people using these implements are the people that use them.
I have a computer monitor in front of me; I could lift it, go out and smack somebody on the head with it.
Clearly the maker of my monitor is responsible...not.

Its the irresponsible that rewin it for the rest of us and make gun owners look bad.

Baxter I couldn't agree more
