the average person cannot do anything to change the world. they're too small. whatever we say, we'll always be forgotten. the people who change things are those in power. it's a big reason why democracy is a big shambles. we always seem to be choosing the lesser of two evils. never choosing the option we want for ourselves. and the crazy part is we can't do anything to change it, because the systems is designed to favour those already in power, or those privelaged enough to have enough money to get into power.

so yeah, the army is a start, but us average john smiths, not a chance in hell of changing anything.

Agreed. People who have money and power aren't much inclined to give it away. Modern Civilization is build upon structures of monopolization that dictate the way the world is.

Just like I was saying, laying back and bitching. Don't stand up, don't do anything to make a change. Say it's someone elses fault and you can't help it. Watch others stand up and get shot down in the process. For whatever reasons; cawardice, self-preservation, etc; Sit there, whine, and watch it crumble. Just take notes of the bad things and stamp it to the fridge - Maybe someone else will take care of it.

I, on the other hand, will do something about it.
I guess I'm that someone else...as usual.

Aethaecyn, Our idiot culture will never accept american bucks .. your bucks will not restore our dignity. however, your blood might ;) we are blood suckers, and we hear your blood is tasty. shutup it's my opinion :hmph:
[/sarcasm]

on a serious note, $1000 will end in about 6 monthes in iraq maybe, unlike the $10million Lybia paid, which I assume you can live upon for your entire life, unless you gamble alot or waste your money.

what exactly does that mean that you'll be doing something about it? are you joining the military? just curious, I'm not flame-baiting

Yes, I'm in the military. I leave for Bootcamp soon.

I'm an E2 right now, that'll change soon.
I plan to be the best USN SEAL. I'll make all the difference I can.

as long as you can sleep at night, more power to you

now I understand where some of your ideas come from

I don't find the thought of killing another man glorious or exciting. It doesn't make me happy, but I'm sure I would be killing someone who would kill others. I believe I protecting the innocent at all costs, even with my life. My personal wants pale in comparison to the needs of others. I don't think I'll have too much trouble sleeping at night, and I don't like your comment.

If anyone should have trouble sleeping at ngiht it's the people that never dared to make a difference, the ones that sit back and watch this world move without them. Greedy people who can only think of what better serves them.

there are other ways of doing something without joining the military. I myself am quite active in the protest movement

Ahh so the U.S did this in Afganistan as well.

It's culture. They're in their own damn country practicing their customs and the U.S come in and kill them all. The U.S a preacher of freedom, democracy and justice yet they go and kill, maim and torture....

The world is ****ed. Absolutely ****ed.
So you think all we are doing in Iraq is killing people, taking off arms and legs and taking nude pics of people...you are watching too much CNN. And so what if they are in their own country, you should think about what you are doing before you do it. I like to walk around naked, but I am not going to do that when my whole family is over for easter. Does that make me smarter then all those Iraqis? Maybe, but all I really did was think ahead and look at the consequences.

huh? I've read it 3 times and I still dont know what you're getting at

That is cool, I am planning on going into the military but I have no idea what I want to do and I am sure having glasses limits things.

i dunno about the US army, but the British army has an IT/Comms/Intelligence sector. i applied for that a few years ago. sent me a pack with all the details and such, i signed up and went for the tests. i got the results and they told me i had bad eyesight. they told me i could get my eyes corrected through laser surgery, but it'd take anywhere from 1-2 years before they'd accept me again.

so even though you've got glasses, still worth applying. they might even pay for your surgery if you enter a sponsored program like engineering or something.

how would you getting in the military make wthe world better?! We need to stop the Bush going around telling other countries what they should do, not make more wars on more countries -_-
