I don't know about you, but I feel like killing some zombies !

Edit: 28 weeks later.

Bleargh.. nasty. I am however slightly disappointed that there won't be the characters from the original movie.

Looks like it's retaining the scare factor of the first one, I jumped a couple of times. :D

Holy shit, that kept me creeped out the entire time...this movie looks like it's going to be awesome.

Made me jump too! Did not expect to see that zombie through the gap when she was calling that guy to come look. I expected to see them miles away running over some hill. Nice one :D

Can't wait to see this now.

That was everything I'd expect from a sequel to 28 Days. Fast, clastrophobic, tense, horrorfying... ****, I cannot wait for this. That was awesome.

I am so frickin' excited for this.

Good things:
  • Made me jump with the first zombie.
  • Got a feeling of "what will happen next?"
Bad things:
  • Sucky audio.
  • Terrible camera work. Seriously, when will directors learn that the jiggily cam will not work? Makes me sick.
  • Looks like another low budget movie like the first one.

I agree with the shoddy cinematography. Realistic camera work can work great when done well (Children of Men, Black Hawk Down). But that was plain confusing.

But that was plain confusing.

But it definately adds to the chaotic atmosphere. That's what I've always liked about 28 Days Later, the real sense of "omfg what the eff is going on!!1 habeeeeeb it.."

Agreed, I think the jiggly camera work was very effectively used there.

But holy shit, if the rest of the film has that kind of tension and urgency, I think they might have actually pulled it off!

Im suddenly a lot more optimistic about this!

Somehow zombies don't scare me anymore and it just made me lol.

I agree with 6Three and gick - the shaky cam was made the action scenes in 28 Days so frantic. It fits perfectly alongside the fact that the rage-infected humans are so pumped up on adrenaline. I love it.

Erm, how? We just saw 5 minutes of people in one set (a house then a barn, I think?) with approx 20 people on set. Have you not seen the trailers? Deserted London streets and then also streets filled with US Army equipment and vehicles... ?

But either way, I loved the way 28 Days was shot, and if you ask me this looks like it might go abit to big budget by the looks of the end of the trailers where all hell was breaking lose.

It's all about the atmosphere of the movie, I guess some people just let that part of 28 Days go right over their heads. :(

Empire gave it 4 stars, says its enough like the original to have the same kind of feel and tone, but not so much that it is like a remake.

Also, someone in the Guardian said it was 'the most intense horror movie [he had] seen in years.....it felt like getting beaten up for 90 minutes' I saw the director's first movie, Intacto, and it is very very good too.

I'm in such a good mood now, they didnt **** up the sequel to one of my favourite movies!

That does look good, although this threads title confused the hell out of me for a minute.

Also the camera work will feel different when its not on a super tiny screen.

I am SO there for opening day. I was going to be anyway, but blatghhbvhdbv, I seriously cannot wait.

Empire's 4 stars is out of 5, right?

Yeah I know what you mean, I loved the desolate almost surreal feel of London in the first movie, and the atmosphere throughout the flick was great.

Also the "low budget look" isn't such a bad idea, I mean the first film and Children of Men for instance had a realistic and gritty feel to them specifically because they didn't fall for the generic big budget Hollywood bandwagon with all sorts of colorful filters and CGI cramped in a movie just for the heck of it. This fad recently with colorful CGI really makes me sick, I wish they would get it through their thick sculls that it doesn't look artistic at all it just makes the movie look like crap

Yep. Did you pick up the comic in the end? I seem to remember you mentioning it in another thread.

Not just yet, but hopefully this weekend so I can get to read it before the film, and also because I'm studying comics for my Art AS exam so all the prep work I can get will help me.

Exactly. 28 Days actually felt like I was inside of someones head, following them around the city, with the survivors, fighting the infected... and then when the cameras switched to the view of the infected charging someone down it actually looked like the kind of footage you would get if you went outside with a camera and ran full pelt down the street.

Should I watched this? I'm a huge fan of 28 Days (hell, of Danny Boyle generally) but I plan to see 28 Weeks as soon as it comes out and I don't want to spoil it for myself.

I wouldn't really say theres any spoilers in there, it's a pretty predictable 5 minutes. At least when I go to see it I'll know whats about to happen in this particular scene so I won't jump. :p My friends always pick up on me jumping in the cinema. I'll be laughing this time...

Besides sucky audio (this is a youtube video...), how is the camera work terrible? Jiggly cam has worked in plenty of films. It brings tension and adds to the atmosphere. And low budget movie? Its a farm house somewhere. I'm sorry there isn't any CGI for you to look at.

The first movie was good, but I didnt think it was scary at all tbh. I didnt even jump at the shock moments.

Anyways, im not gunna watch this video since I dont want to ruin the scene for the actual movie.

I didn't find it scary either, but then again I never considered it a zombie horror movie. It's more of a sci-fi/psychological thriller.

I <3 28DL too and I watched it and it shows nothing really about the story (Just some people getting mauled by zombies), I didn't see any main characters (Like Rose Byrne) and it was confined.

I'd say it wouldn't spoil anything -- I've watched the other trailers which are a min or so long and they seem to show 100x as much.

Comes out this thurs doesn't it ? I need to find some people who will want to watch it as most of my friends don't seem to care for movies like this, noobs -- their movies taste sucks in general anyway.

The only reason why the camera work looked shitty and confusing was because of youtube's own shitty quality.

Oh god I can't wait! I think that this section is during the 1st '28 Days' cause the boy seems to be from a country town - and they won't have populated much outside of London. That might be the intro, then cut to a "28 Weeks Later" title and the re-population of London bits.

Oh, and I love that song too.. in fact, I love the whole soundtrack from 28 Days Later.

Is it just me, or does the music REALLY add to the scare/worry factor when watching that clip? They do a good job with the music, and I can't just listen to it by itself, I'd probably have a heart attack. :(

So this is out now? Wiki says the 10th (y'day, today... whichever) so I presume that's everywhere?

Gonna go see it next week. :D Aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

Everywhere or at least the 'major' countries (UK, USA, Australia, etc).

I'm hopefully going to see it sat night or next thurs, I have no time for the movies any more. :(

I'm watching this tomorrow. I'll report back with my findings. I'm preparing by watching 28 Days Later tonight.

Unorthodox use of helicopters + horde of infected = win.

28 Months Later plzkthx

I've just got back from seeing this ... It's good, but a bit random. I'll give it 7/10 ... worth seeing, if not just for the action and the pyromania.

It lacks the feel in some respects of 28Days. Too many cheap scares in there, not enough of the desolation we had in 28Days.

7.5/10

If you ignore everything that made 28 Days, this film is a ****ing awesome watch. To me, it felt like the transaction between 'Alien' to 'Aliens' - a horror film to an action film, although 28 Days was more a... well, I don't know. You get what I mean.

Anyway, brilliant film.

[SPOILERS]

I loved how every character that was built to be a main character was killed off. Wasn't expecting Carlyle to be part of the infected so early! And the sniper had a pretty tragic death, aswell as the doctor having a proper in your face (literally) blunt death. Fantastic.

[/SPOILER]

Killer soundtrack as usual, some great effects, few scares here n' there, a ridiculous amount of gore but all in all, entertaining as hell.

Uh I felt the movie was horrible.

It started off good and progressively got worse. Had none of the soul or character of the previous movie, and way too many convenient moments.

28 days later is a movie the more I think about it, the better I feel was.

28 weeks later is a movie the more I think about, the more stupid I think it is.

Now while I have kinda doomed and gloomed it, I will say that it is an entertaining movie, and had it been unattached to 28 days later I'd of enjoyed it more.

Trust me, Children of Men is about the opposite of low-budge handy cam movie. A lot of money, time, and extreme care went into making each scene look like a damp, cloudy afternoon. Also, those long shots that look so natural probably had about 5 or 6 guys on one camera, following a specific track, with more artificial camera shake added later.

And not that I care, because 28 weeks looks mega retarded, but antipop, you need to fix your spoiler tag for those who do wish to see this movie.
