640bhp pulls like you wouldn't believe...

See crank. See crank walk. Walk crank, walk.

A real mans car has eight cylinders or more!

Some people get it, some don't.

I've got almost 100,000 miles on mine and don't have any problems.

8 cylinders, in many cases, is a waste of fuel, and is heavy.

IMO, a real sports car has a turbo or supercharger.

BTW just bought DiRT. I'm going to install it now.

If you want less fuel economy, build a bigger engine.

INTERESTINGLY,
Subaru's brand new 3.6L makes more power and is more fuel efficent than the current 3.0. Strange but true.

REDNECK ALERT!

dingdingding.

I've seen a stock 2.0 liter 3-rotor with no turbo or anything put out a 5.0 liter or in alot of cases, just random v8's. I love people who put all their faith in a car that is made in a specific place just because it's what they are used to. Shallow minds rock.

Yeah, 'no replacement for displacement', right?

Wrong!

Until you get inside a light-weight car and whip it around like it's a go-kart, and feel the turbo kick in like warp factor 5, kicking your ass back in the seat like a roller-coaster ride, you just won't understand.

In 5th gear, I can accelerate with the force of something like 2nd gear of a 8 cylinder naturally aspirated engine (Non-turbo)

"Wow! HOLY shit that was awesome!", I sometimes actually say to myself with a shit-eating grin on my face, after tearing up the pavement through the turns of the highway.

I know other cars on the highway are like "WTF, that car is jet powered!", "how in the ****?"

While it's true that jet engines have turbines, and a blow-off (pressure relief valve) is an aircraft part - it's no rocket. It's an Eclipse.

OK, was that well written or what?

*toots horn*

I'm not knocking cylinders (no pun intended) as I love horsepower, but unless it's turbo or supercharged, 8 cylinders usually ain't really shit to me.

It get more than twice the fuel economy, and twice the acceleration of some of these 8 cylinder sports cars.

You've never been in a 9 second car, have you.

You've never been in a 9 second car, have you.

No....... what are you saying? I already posted proof of my car doing 6 seconds in the quarter mile with a 4 cylinder... sooooooooooo ....?? I'm pretty sure that's faster than all of these production V8's and V12's with twin turbos.

Have you? Please don't tell me you are going to make a 9 second miata. That would be astronomically expensive, as that car is steel molasses. New engine, new computer, full exhaust, probably need to lighten it up with carbon fiber, etc., new turbo system, new transmission, etc. Great little car. Great in the twisties - if you get wider tires - great on gas, but it doesn't natively accelerate worth a damn.

I already said, in so many words, 8 cylinders is better (than a 4 cyl turbo), but only if it's turbo charged, or If you are hauling a lot of weight IMO.

Buying a work truck? get a V8. A 4 cylinder isn't good at pulling heavy vehicles - turbo or not.

buying a sports car? Make sure it's turbo. The heavier the load (weight of car + weight of passengers/payload), the more cylinders you should get.

That's what I firmly believe.

I was going to say, if you think that a bigger engine instantly means worse fuel economy, you have some research to do. While size CAN affect fuel economy, it's more about the efficiency of the engine. It's the same stupid ****ing argument that "ricers" make about V8's and their 4 Bangers.

"Hah, my B16 gets over one hundred horsepower per liter, can you say that about your small block?"

It's just idiotic. Horsepower per liter DOES NOT MATTER. It's all about LITERS PER GALLON OF GAS. Once you really stop and think about it, how in any way, shape, or form, does horsepower per LITER matter? It doesn't.

Sorry for the rant, wasn't directed at you. I just get a little irritated when people insist that bigger engines are somehow less efficient than smaller ones. If anything, bigger engines are more efficient much of the time.

@ whoever doesn't know:

I notice a night and day difference when I've got 50 or 100 lbs. of groceries / fuel in my car.

4 cylinder engines - turbo or not, are really only good for lighter sports cars, so keep that in mind too. I'm tall and skinny, and my car is light, so it's fine for me.

I've got a friend who plays college [american] football, he's ****in huge - probably 280 lbs. A 4 cylinder would be hurting. So in this case I'd highly recommend a V8.
