9/11/01 - 4 years ago and still with us

Can I ask why parents came to pick people up? Do you live in New York?

I guess some people just panicked, thinking another plane could hit anywhere. I remember the next few days of school, whenever an airplane flew over, my stomach would come up into my throat.

Imagine if terrorists killed 3000 people in Canada, you guys would dramatise it like crazy, and want pity. We would help you all like we always do. But when something bad happends here, nobody gives a shit. Like the reaction to New Orleans is like, "They are all nigs down there" and stuff. We donated so much money to the tsunami but we don't get much in return. Bummer eh?

So... untrue.

1) That happened 4 years ago, jokes are more than allowed now. Plus, it was a pretty decent one he made.
2) Canada gives a shit about what happens around the globe. We are probably the last ones to racialy discriminate the New Orleanians and usually help a lot of you guys.
3) Don't generalize.

I really hate my school for hiding what happened. I heard such things that day as "OMG TEH RUSSIANS HAVE A SUB UNDER TEH FALLS!1", "F'n Chinese attacked us!1" and my favorite, "Niagara falls has exploded!". No joke. One of the kids in my class started crying when he saw a plane in the sky that day.

It wasn't until 3 PM that I finally found out what happened. :hmph:

I think we can all agree on one thing.

I hope nothing like that ever happens again. Anywhere.

(Still there is always a part of me that longs for a massive, tremendous, ginormous explosion where no one gets hurt but buildings are disintergrated)

How do you joke about 911? You are one sick mother****er

the holocaust happened 60 years ago snickers, i guess we can make fun of them too.

It's real easy, actually. Same with jokes about the holocaust, dead babies, and all sorts of tragedies.

I guess your humor requires a certain sick aspect to it, but whatever.

But 4 years? Come on. 3000 people died. If we scale that down, do you wait 4 minutes after someone's baby sister dies to crack the jokes about it?

And yes, I know there's no math involved in that. Though... I guess I just cant see the humor in it. Its not like the deaths were somehow, vaguely humorous and ironic.

In a couple more years, we could laugh at all the innocent civilians who got killed in Iraq! Well I guess, with that logic.

Nobody's asking you to find such jokes funny. People have different limits of what is acceptable. If I'm seen as a sick bastard for chuckling over a 9/11 joke or even making one myself, then okay. I'll concede that there is something twisted about it.

Simply put, there is no set time limit for when something can be joked about. Not a damn thing funny about the crusades either, but it's okay to crack wise about it today. Now if somebody was there at ground zero laughing their head off during the event, I'd take issue witht it. That displays some extreme callousness that I find disgusting. But after that? Meh.

People should get over it. Instead of actually progressing, we sit here and cry over the people that died. Well TOUGH SHIT. The only reason it's special is that it's happening to US, and we're arrogant enough to make a big deal out of it. Terrorism has been going on in Sri Lanka for ever now. In Africa, 50,000 people die from AIDS every MONTH. Who's crying for them? Not us. If we actually cried for everyone that died because of something out of their control, something which they didn't deserve, every aspect of progress would grind to a halt. So I'm asking everyone to grow up, accept that shit like this happens, and rather than tearing up over the tragedies, celebrate the victims' lives! BE POSITIVE PEOPLE.

I feel just as bad for any innocent person who has died, no matter the causes. Too bad there's just no way to remember the dates for all of them. It just happens to be a little easier to do that for the victims of 9/11. I don't sit here and mourn for their loss everytime 9/11 comes to pass, but I take a moment of pause to remember at least. I do the same for any innocent person if I hear about them dying... I take the time out to say to myself, "Whoa... that really sucks" and remember just how precious life really is.

But... I can't speak the same for everybody.

sure if that happened in another country like a arabian country, you will be making jokes for sure

I remember waking up, wandering into my lounge room, and seeing endless replays of the planes hitting the towers, with voice-overs by random people being absurdly worried about this.

We went to school. My before-school care - everyone there (i was in year 5 at this point) was all just sitting there, staring at the screen.

Sure, death happens all the time. But media coverage in America is much better, and (in terms of money) more important to the world.

That's not what I meant. Decent jokes don't make fun of the 3000 deceased, but of the general context in which this event occured. Like CrazyHarij's picture or xxLostxx's comment, that wasn't in any ways offending or making fun of the dead innocents. There is a nuance here.

WW2 caused millions of death. I've seen and heard so many jokes on that subject. And we make friggin video games about it and somehow that is allowed.

I don't hear too many jokes about WWII. Share some? Only ones i've heard is the good ole, "We saved your ass in world war 2." "Oh yeah? Well we saved yours in World war 3". But that doesn't make fun of the event itself. It runs parallel. It's not like... Happy WWII day!

Why did Hitler kill himself?
He saw the gas bill
Why did Eva Braun kill herself?
Took the wrong shower

What? You asked if I wanted to share some...

There are also more depraved ones, like the classic "What's the difference between a jew and a pizza?".

And if you don't know the answer to that joke... well, I'm not giving it.

I was at college at the time.

It was lunchtime, and a guy who I only knew for about 3 weeks saw me, and he passed me his earphone from his personal radio. I thought it was a joke at first until this massive guy came around the corner shouting "The WTC has been destroyed!" and "We are ****ed!"

I might get watery eyed if I'm watching some girl or someone crying on tv...but I never really feel anything :\

I mean thousands of people were burning/suffocating/jumping out windows and all I could think about was if I should bother goin to school or not...

weird?
Trust me, as soon as a close relative/friend passes away, you'll know what it feels like.

It is sad. That the U.S. government sunk to Hitler's level by killing their own people for an excuse for a war and oil. I salute the brave men and women who died on 9/11/01 and for all of the people that died for our country.

Why not just save the trouble and post the "truth" for everyone to see?

See those explosions ?
There is no doubt that they ARE seperate from the collapsing ITSELF.

www.letsroll911.org going very slowly because it is the anniversery on 9-11
http://www.question911.com/links.php Movie clip links of several different DVDs and anaylises of the WTC.

AIM me if you want more- im busy ATM.

edit: a key point is that Larry Silverstein(owner of all the towers) went on the PBS documentary and said building 7(one of the smaller ones) had a few fires in it and they had to 'pull it' which means to destroy or demolition it. Now you guys are all smart. You know they cant set up bombs in the building under an hour. it takes MONTHS and MONTHS of preperation. Well, Larry said there were bombs in building 7. Cant it be possible bombs were in the north and south towers? Oh yea, the Hilton is right next to the WTC towers and was not damaged at all. But later in the day Building 7 which is a block away all of a sudden 'caught' fire and they decided to pull it. Oh, and did you know 2 weeks before 9-11 - larry silverstein took out a FOUR BILLION DOLLAR INSURANCY POLICY on these buildings? Its a world record insurancy policy. He tried for 7 but they only allowed him 4 billion.

all i could say is that i'm sorry for the people related with the 9-11 tragedy, for the katrina too, but what really bugs me, is that if US gov. can't help it's own country, why bother caring about other countries? who does bush think he is? he cares about everything but he's country, iraq, afkanistan, and now he's minding iran's business about the nuclear thing, who is he to decide about other countries?

Dude, just shut the f_ck up. I doubt you know "the truth", and any supposed "facts" that you spit out are just recycled bullsh1t from other conspiracy websites.

Seriously, you've probally just read one to many conspiracys and now its engraved in your mind. Its pathetic.

Im not trying to offend anyone, im just keeping an open mind. When a friend told me the subject a few years ago i was the same attitude you were. Just look into the stuff. theres a few dvds you can download from the net. It is very hard to refute them. Do you believe we landed on the moon? Thats another huge conspiracy. On that topic, I believe we did. Although there are some strange questions that arised from the landings. I still think we landed on it. I don't believe many conpiracies at all. but if you take the 9-11 coverup - it is one I really do believe in. Most people are offended by it because its too early still.

Also, Correct- anything i posted before was from movies. I never said they were my own words. I was just saying facts. I mean, its on PBS. PBS not reliable as CNN or FOX? You do know that the person who owns Fox news network - when he originally formed the company he stated their goal is to provide an un-biased news station. Fox turned out to be the most bias. And announced Bush won the Electron in 2000 a lot earlier than all the other news stations, and other instances like that.

I hate watching those DVD videos and clips. Ive seen abunch of them on the internet and they draw you in with simple techniques, most obviously the dramatic music, slowing down voices of people like Bush i ntheir speeches.

Looking at pictures where the explosions coming from the building are below the actual crumbling, every think about the inside collasping first or debris getting launched out from the inside a few floors down? Im no science professor but im sure its thousands of pounds of pressure busting through the walls.

Its just the people who put together these videos, and make statements about conspiracy have NO CREDABILITY.

I exagerated my second point to give emphasis to the fact he was generalizing.
