A Defend & Destroy mod idea

I really enjoyed the Defend & Destroy game mode from Starsiege: Tribes, so I suggest this as the central gameplay element for a new mod. I know that this is not an original game mode, but I am a bit tired of Capture the Flag. I have several weapons and other in-game items lined up. Phasis was the first name I thought of.

I suck at looking at my own concepts impartially, so don't hold back the truth.

I think there was this one released mod about Rebels vs Combine. Something about rebels attacking and Combine defending. As you can imagine, the advertising for that mod is sorta non-existent. Even I'm not very sure if it actually exists or not.

When I say Defend and Destroy I am not referring to one side defending and the other side attacking. Both sides are supposed to attack while maintaining a functional defense. Basically, SourceForts style, but with no buildable walls.

fortwars, I think it's called. the one were everyone's a kliner in a different color

After a thread being silent for this long, I figure that I could recommend Empires as a Defend and Destroy mod. Kind of a cop out answer, but you defend your command vehicle and destroy the enemy's.

The vehicle and on-foot mechanics are a bit more different than that of Tribes, but I think you already knew that.

There was a custom map for Enemy Territory that had a same sort of set-up, but it worked somewhat differently:
The map was symmetrical, each side being the same to the other, and each team had to defend its base. The catch was however that to build better defenses, the team needed to get building materials. And those building materials were (you guessed it) at the other side of the map, in the enemy's base. Upgrades included better walls, alarm systems, etc.

The first team to finish their base won the game.

This should work brilliantly for a TF2 custom map I reckon...

Sounds cool and that is a perfect example of great a mapper at work.

I have been thinking that it might be easier(for me) to suggest the D&D gamemode to the SourceForts 2.0 Team. They are a lot more diligent than I and would probably so a better job.
