Um, yeah, thats a mere star completely and utterly dwarfing our pinPRICK of a feeble star into obscurity.

Somehow I think space is even bigger then even you have seriously tried to imagine.

Seriously, just think about how small our sun is to other stars, and how small earth is, and how small WE are, and then contemplate how small even the biggest stars are when lost inside the expanse of a galaxy, and the sheer scale of distance between galaxies and the sheer number of galaxies in the universe and the fact we can't even see to the edge of the universe its so vast and what we can see is but a small area of it........

FU-KIN HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE.

VY Canis Majoris is ridiculously huge. That's actually unbelievable.

Oh yeah, surely this is desktop'd on my computer!?

*Looks* SURE IS!

God did a really great job building this universe, and in 6 days to boot.

man that shit just completely blows my mind. im not normally a big nerd for things but i could sit for hours on end watching or reading doco after doco/book on space and not get bored. not that i could hope to understand most of it.

That's nice and all. But this is superior.

I think the wonderful thing about space is that no-one actually knows much about it. It's way too big. It means alsorts can be made up about it.

Sci-fis are fun :dork:

Pff. Ever wonder if space is trying to compensate for something?

I'm just sayin'.

wait...are these pics real? I mean, no human space shuttle/sattelite/probe/thing has gone that far out in space. Weve just sent stuff around our own solar system, how the **** did we take these pictures??? Sure their not just made up with inspiration etc?

I wanna inhale you, Smoke. Nice find.

By the way, not as big, big beautiful nonetheless; The Crab nebula:

Or the Tarantula Nebula -

Hmm the majorly purple galaxy makes me think that maybe some galaxies have a F***load of a certain gas or material? That'd be cool, using an entire galaxy for a single purpose like mining or something.

You never know, there may be a race somewhere that has learnt how to harness the power of an entire galaxy. Would not want to piss those guys off.

Man, a super alien race that uses galaxies as ammunition in their super weapons would be awesome. They'd never run out of galaxy bullets!

It's awesome because every picture we take of the deep universe has already drastically changed. We're literally looking into billions of years ago.

God dammit, you have to have a ****ing galaxy sized monitor to view these images.
