About this intentional leak stuff.

But see, the burden of proof lies on you as you're the one proposing this "intentional leak" theory. Sorry, but you can't just throw a wild allegation out there and say, "That's the truth until somebody disproves it!" You said it, you provide the proof that what you're saying has merit. So far, all you have is uninformed speculation, so you have to understand that folks won't take you seriously.

I'm not saying this intentional leak is real, all I was doing, as I have said countless times, it just saying a few things I had been thinking out, I'm not saying it's the truth and everybody should believe it; never once did I say "That's the truth until somebody disproves it!" so don't use quote marks as if I did. All I meant to accomplish in that post was to say that I've said some things, just wondering, not accusing, not saying they are facts, and if somebody will come and tell me otherwise then it's okay (see my responce to the person who informed me on the situation with the Havok website).

And as Aknot said, the entire point of this thread was to make you think "Hmmm". But I wouldn't go "Hmmmm" if Valve would enlighten me :).

Shuuarjou is not saying anything new and this thread is nothing new so how about locking it now. :|

I'm sorry I'm forcing you to read this thread, and I'm sorry that I'm deciding to defend myself against false accusations instead of sitting here like a muppet and taking a pounding. The way I started this thread did not say "post piontless flames against me here!". I'm sorry that the topic has swayed, it's beyond my control.

Valve are probably keeping silent under the advice from their lawyers pending legal proceedings. We all know how slippery defence lawyers can be and how easily it is for them to twist information to suit their needs. Any form of public statement however innoculous might well impact upon any legal action Valve might be undertaking. Certainly if I was their legal council thats what I would advise.

Thank god somebody posted something relevant ^^. This is the kind of discussion and responces this thread was intended for :).

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking is the reason behind their silence, or at least it's what I'd like to think as I think Valve wouldn't keep their community in the silence & dark unless it was deemed appropriate. Anyways, I hope things get some light shed on them soon via valve.

There are a couple of options on which Valve would be drawn and therefore unable to commit to a finite date at this point in time:-

Firstly Valve need to resolve the legal issue of the leak with Havok, if there is any real issue......it's all speculation at this point in time as to whether there is any actual case. Personally I can't see one with Valve directly, they didn't leak Havoks stuff intentionally, it got stolen from them. Therefore Havoks case also lies with the hacker. The only case that could be pursued by Havok against Valve would be one of negligence, but that is very hard to prove under the circumstances given that this level of electronic theft is pretty much unprecedented within the games world. Naturally if Havok were to pursue a case against Valve they would probably be cutting their own throat commercially, as it's unlikely that any other games developer would be prepared to risk a similar fate. If they are sensible they will suck it up and accept that in the scheme of things and infinite possibilities shit invariably happens, and just knuckle down to producing havok 3.

Secondly it is safe to assume that a legal investigation is underway with regard to determining the identity and location of the original hacker(s), in order to pursue a criminal conviction. The less you say publically the better in such situations.

That's mostly what I'm wondering about also. What are Havok's feelings on this, are they going to take any kind of action against Valve. If they do, my opinion of them will drop incredibly, as a fellow company in the games industry I would think that they should be sympathetic to Valve's causes. Valve chose them for the most anticipate title of the year (in my opinion) and one which will drop a bomb shell in the middle of the gaming world for sure, leaving a huge wake like the original Half Life did. But, this is a dog eat dog world, every man for himself as the saying goes. They may head right for the kneck of Valve and see how much blood they can suck out before it goes dry.

Why don't you use the search button. Others have made your point countless times before. Why start another thread repeating the Exact same thing. Read the ones available and you might get your answer in those threads. So time for a lock :flame:

You do have a point SoSorry, search button will certainly come in handy. But I see no point in locking the thread as it's getting more interesting, besides some arrogant and mean babbling from some people of course.

So really, this whole thread is a pointless discussion. Thanks for clarifying.

Nothing is pointless (well almost nothing) it is called conversation. What is wrong with friendly banter over a subject. Just a nice friendly discussion between people. That is what normal people do.

Dude. If you are going to type so much, try to use some formatting & try to make sure you make some sense. When you have irrelevant, weak or repetitive sentences, people start to skip sentences and skim faster and faster, until they skip…I think you get the idea.

Take a look: There's at least 5x as much information, 1.5x as much text, and it's very easy to read.

Also, if you read that thread, you’ll get plenty of info why your theory is total BS.

shuurajou, I would advise not bothering to start new threads at this time, this community seems to have members that gleefully jump on new members and rip topics to shreds.

I believe its due to the delay of the game. Rather than discussing the finer points of HL 2 and discovering the little secrets implanted in the game we are reduced to rehashing old news, and the top news item today seems to be about a coupon.

I didn't mean to be so harsh in my last post, but the first 1/2 of this thread was "could someone summarize that?"
