This whole dilema is gay. Just think about what we knew about hl2 before, compaired to what we know now. It almost makes me sick to think that valves intentions to surprize us have totally been screwed. Everything that can go wrong in game development has, and has in the last few weeks/months before the release.

To all you wanting the game early, I don't blame you, It's hard to surpress your child desires. Your 13? Go ahead and download it, it takes maturity to keep yourself from self indulging every whim. For those that are older, and still want it... I am disappointed, words cannot explain how completely immature some can be. They desire respect from board members like me, when posting their threads, yet go and download stuff like this.

Hopeing to get a glance, hoping to play with the weapons, but then what?
So you know what weapons will be used now, and what new vehicles you will be able to play with. You know all of the characters now and what they look like. You've killed barney... You know of the multiplayer (Valve was trying to keep secret.) What do you think your gunna gain from this downloading this file?

Word to all mods, don't fold under the weight of the users... and keep the boards clean like you have been. Good job you have done a great job.

Telling people how ashamed they should be is not going to stop them from downloading it. But if people want to download the game, let them, some people like to be spoiled. I am sure most people who download the beta will still buy the game.

I don't think this drama is over yet, so I'm sticking around. This whole ordeal has been a live-action daytime-emmy-winner feel to it. It has ups, downs, and mostly downs.

In the end, I'm sticking around, just because I still find it fun to spend time here. Sure, certain aspects of the game are ruined, but quite frankly I really don't mind, I'm still buying it, I'm still going to enjoy the story (which has yet to be ruined for me), and the beta is probably crap compared to what the real thing will be, so I'm moving on.

I too have thought of leaving the board for a few months. But to me. There is "Being a HL2 fan" and "Not being a HL2 fan". It's one or the other with no in between. I will not abandon this community. We're all simply in a state of shock, after whats been recently happening to our precious game. I'm a part of this community. Everyone who posts here is. If everyone took your stand, there would be no community left. Stick around. Show Valve your support. Five years of work to them has been freely given out. Though it was there fault, I still do feel a deep sorrow for them. I will not leave this boards until the day I reply to the thread titled "Half Life 2 Goes Gold"!

Yeah, I'll probably won't check out these boards as much as soon as I know HL2 has a definite release date, and that's when the game will have gone gold.

I will still read news from Hl2.net, but won't post here again (after this thread) until HL2 is either released, or is about to be. So razor I guess we will be back on teh boards at different times.

I lurked from May until the end of August before I started making posts, I feel still that I am one of the original members around here even tho my contributions really just started - but who can be bothered to find any useful posts in all the garbage? I feel the same way, but I'm not going anywhere. I'll pretty much ignore everything here eccept for the front page quicky news and a few decent threads (very few) to see what's going on. There are too many people here who have no sense of decency whatsoever. I think it spawns from the younger generation going through their usual frustrations and trying to feel apart of something bigger, then getting on the net and trying to make themselves feel special. It's pretty disgraceful. I don't plan to D/L any "beta" or pre-release for the reasons you mentioned. I want to keep the game up on a pedestal. If Valve releases a demo of their own, I'd be all over that.

I'm still a hardcore fan, and will stay that way. I just hope when this all blows over, the forums reach a tolerable equilibrium.

Dude..."if people want to download the game, then let them" is not a good strategy for VALVe to do well, and thus support their game, and ensure that it comes out on time.

i dont want a buggy beta version, i'm gonna wait for the full version and support valve, even tho it kinda pissed me off with how they kept us in the dark about the delay. Even so, i want a hl3 and want to be continually amazed by their incredibly graphics and compelling story line.

And your assumption that everyone who downloads the beta does so due to immaturity is a stupid one. Some people have enough going on in real life that seeing a few game spoilers is not high on their list of concerns.

I personally don't care about this issue, it's a GAME! but here's my 2pence...

If the games code has to be changed due to this beta coming out, won't the game that is released in April (yeah-right!) be different to this beta/whatever it is, if thats the case then people aren't spoiling it as it's a different game...

(I know this is kinda a thin arguement but i'm bored & fancied a debate!)

Well essentially it'll more than likely be the same game, I think they're just rewriting the code so it can't be haxx0r3d so easy... or somethin. It'll still play the same, hopefully. I hope they put in a new physics test level where you can drop shit on the hackers

Edit - Christ sorry for all the posts/edits, just thinkin... April next year? What if this whole thing is an April Fools joke? ;(
