After watching the CS:S Meca vids, I was bothered by a few things

I was hoping that during the transition to source they would make a few revisions to the game, most imporantly innacuracies and more attention to detail on the guns. Instead I found they still have the same stupid mistakes from all the earlier versions. Perhaps the one that bothers me the most is the fact that the shells still eject from the wrong sides on all the guns. Also when reloading the M4 the player still pulls the forward assist instead of the charging handle like he should. The dust cover on the M4 still only goes down while shooting, isntead of staying down the whole time like it should. Other than that I was impressed by the graphical overhaul the game has gone through and I am looking forward to playing it in the near future.

The shells ejecting from the wrong side of the gun is NOT a mistake. They do it on purpose. This has been answered and answered again by VALVe atleast 5 times since CS:S was showcased.

Well I didn't know that, what's the reason? Anyway beyond that there are still the obvious problems that I have mentioned with the M4.

Try firing off an e-mail to Cliffe about the other M4 issue. Maybe they're unaware of that one.

And as for the shells ejecting, I believe they just did it because it looks cooler.

I guess I could live with that, I've been accustomed to it for the past few years now playing CS so if that's their reason I don't have a problem.

If you missed it, read my edit of my previous post :)

But the M4 reload animation would be just as cool if they just pulled the right thing on the gun. It just bothers me every time I see the player pull something on the gun that is pushed in real life.

Well, go yell at Cliffe then :) lol, I dunno.. it's clear they're aware it's inaccurate.

I've been away from the HL2 and Valve scene for a while, could you just tell me who Cliffe is?

Cliffe is one of the original CS creators. Him and Gooseman are most well-known.

Cliffe seems to be the one to talk to about CS these days.. he works at VALVe now, and CS is his child.

Tbh, why does everyone always think CS is realistic? Does it even matter if a little flip down thingy doesn't stay down?

ITS A GAME! AND ITS NOT SUPOSED TO BE REALISTIC!

The end...

Also the graphics looked pritty none impressive...

Haha, I always notice that too now, ever since I started playing AA, meh.

Does it really bother you that the shells are ejected from the wrong side or are you trying to prove to us that you know something about the M4.. I've seen a few threads like this and it's pretty annoying. Video games are not always made to be ultra-realistic..they're for fun..

Talking about reload animations, where exactly does Gordon put a new clip of ammo in the MP7? I just see his hands off the gun, the reloading sound, and his hands are back on the gun...

Edit: sorry for being a lil off topic.

Personally I think CS:S looks awesome. Unfortunately the latest bink doesn't do it justice..

Um, I'm farely positive it's the same exact E3 vid. They've surely been working on CS:S since then and wouldn't let such glaring problems through, hopefully. Remember, we are dealing with a company that has pre-E3 pics from LAST year on their game box(or atleast the mock-ups) and web-site.

Yeah you caught me. I'm just trying to prove how much I know about guns to some people I don't know over a forum. Wait you're an idiot.

It just bothers me that these problems have existed for nearly five years and no one has bothered to fix them. It wouldn't hurt to add a little more realism to the game.

I could care less, its Cs, its not supposed to be perfectly realistic, thats for CS2 to fix

EDIT: Scratch that, read this:

Actually. Weren't the player models in early CS left handed?

which would support my theory that instead of re-modelling everything for simple bullet shells they basically just flipped it over when it moved to being right handed (which is why it ejects from the wrong side).

Does it really matter when all said and done though? When playing a game some people nit-pick a bit too much.

Edit:

It seems they can't make up their minds which hands the guns are held in :/

Models are mirrored from left to right, as opposed to having two separate models.

Basically, Shell firing is done for the coolness factor.

People like seeing their empties wizz past their head.

Stalker also does the same thing, for the same reason.

As for reloading? well the m4 in game shoots nothing like an m4 in real life, if you're that bothered there are models that people have done that have proper reload animations.

and the MP-7 has the magazine in the pistol grip, much like the UZI and TMP.

Don't forget the movie clips you have seen are from a build which is months old. According to an interview with cliffe on csnation the only weapon models they have finished which are going in the final CS:S are the glock and the usp. They are also considering reworking the arm length and back posture of the player models.

Yeah, always get the gun boffins complaining :D

There always the arguement about, even the incredible hulk couldnt duck jump then aim and get a hs with an awp.

its a game :D

just lookin at them screenshots and some vids

im not 100% sure i like the new models :/

the old models seemed to have a certain feel about them, the way they looked and moved etc... these new ones seem really large and look abit like sam fisher from SC lol

sposed id have to actually play with them first tho, just i hope they dont take away that feel that cs seems to have

Currently CS is populated by dwarven military personnel. I am hoping CS:Source will address that issue...

well i guess it really doesn't bother me personally all that much.. but one thing is for sure.. it can ruin a good screen shot.. :|

The thing that bother me most is the M4 still has a scope on it on p_/w_ models and the gun selection sprite. It hasn't had a scope since like beta 6.

Actually on some forward assists have springs and when you pull back it shoots forward to get the bullet into the chamber, in stead of having to push it like on an M16

This has been fixed in CS:S.
