blocking in a MMO is not possible because of latency issues ..decapitations are a special move ..the characters either hadnt achieved that level or just didnt use it

out of curiosity what exactly is it you dont like? AoC's combat is unlike any other MMO ..it's not click button watch animation it's all user controlled
 
well i guess i'd have to actually play it to make a fair judgement... but he was just running around, making a few whacks and they'd fall down.

lus, i'm skeptical of "live action" melee combat like that in an mmo. don't get me wrong, I've played dark messiah: might and magic and absolutely LOVE the melee combat/rpg combination, but it just doesn't seem like it would be feasible in a MMO setting, with the latency and all.
 
ya it's not on the same level as Dark messiah ..and the video was misleading in that at times the player was in god mode while at others it was obvious he was at a much higher experience level than his attackers ..he ran around the starting level with mid level gear

there's a video from the beta showing players fighting each other ...latency didnt seem an issue but that's from closed beta so it's not exactly indicative of what the final gameplay will be like

May be time to relegate guild wars to the back of the drawer.

honestly, it looks like a mediocre game
we'll just have to wait and see
 
So I'm guessing there is more to DX10 than graphics because that looks awful!
 
how can you guys say it sucks? have you played an MMO? most look no better than half-life ...you cant have crysis level of detail in a game meant to be played with hundreds of not thousands of people at a time. It is easily hands down the best looking graphics for a MMO to date

But why DX10? You can get graphics like that in DX9 easily.

Am I missing something? :x

You people should familiarize yourselves with CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM. It's a video game, how else are the players supposed to use their mounts? Have you even played an MMO before? There's no other way to summon a mount, it HAS to magically appear out of thin air because all the other options are just not feasible and kill the gameplay.

As for the GFX, by MMO standards, AoC is #1. It's not a matter of taste, the technical achievements in terms of graphics for an mmo surpass any other game in the same category.
 
the game doesn't impress me at all. looks extremely boring. also the graphics did look top notch imo.
