the L Sprague de Camp and lin carter pastiches/rewrites/original stories arent bad ..although Decamp butchered howard's work when the work was reissued in the 70's

I'd also suggest some of Howard's other characters like Solomon Kane, Cormac Mac Art, El Borak etc ..there's only a few stories each but it's classic Howard/Weird tales pulp fiction at it's finest
 
lawl, I just impulse bought the game a bit ago...

I'll probably do the foolish thing and play on stern's rp-pvp server (usually don't like pvp much but this is the exception)

think I'm going to go cimmeran bear shaman.
 
I'm resisting buying this game, because I think it's probablt too good . . . a.k.a. I won't have a life for the next 5 months if I do get this game. I have other stuff in my life that I need to work on more :(

I am enjoying the pvp server... it keeps things tense when you're outside the city; my current score is 10 kills, 6 deaths.

looking forward to partying with you stern :p

edit: also, I haven't noticed a severe lack of fatalities either. I've probably had 20 or so by lvl 15, even 2 in a row at one point. Unfortunately the blunt weapon fatality isn't nearly as spectacular as some of the other weapons.

I performed a fatality in a pvp fight with a player 2 lvls higher than me ..I decapitated him ..it was immensely satisfying

It does get annoying when you are trying to get to an objective though, and you get raped by a group of 2-3 players.

Its even worse when you have a psychotic lvl35 player trying to slaughter players at lvl15. Seriously how much XP can that person possibly get
 
huh? the person would had to have grinded his way from lvl 20 to lvl 35, tortage only goes to lvl 20 ..that's pretty pathetic


I find that most pvpers just hang out in the entrances to some instances but once you get in they mostly leave you alone ..except in underhalls ..that's a gank fest throughout ..I dont go anywhere without being cloaked
 
I killed one person in the underhalls but I didn't see many people there... most of my killing/dying was on the white isles or whatever

What's your ingame name stern? Mine is the usual.

my in game name is Sternn (the extra "n" is so that my enemies dont find me) :)

ya the underhalls are barren ..but it's supposed to full of mobs ...but it gets cleared so often by gankers/players that it looks barren ..try entering the instance and hit the "epic" button ..tit'll be full of mobs ..except they're very hard to kil (meant for groups) ..I took out a red hand guy 3 lvls below me and almost died (had a sliver left) ..but my xp points for killing him was 400
 
I found someone to party up with today which makes it a lot funner... you can gank basically everyone since you have someone to help you. We did a bit of one of the epic zones but those guys have wayyy too much health... luckily they were several levels lower than us at the time so it wasn't that difficult, just took awhile to kill them.

We've managed to get to 20 so far and I've added you to friends sternn
 
This game was actually sold out at EB near me which is kind of crazy, hardly anything sells out there.. Hopefully this means there will be a good amount of Australian players and decent servers for us.
 
actually, scratch the adding you to friends thing stern... I can't seem to figure out a way to add any name to friends, it seems you have to see them ingame or something before you can.

I'm out of tortage now so I think I'll have to wait till you are as well.
 
A ton of posts concerning the lack of quests from 50 on have been popping up lately. I have a few guildies who are close to quitting because they're sick on grinding already. I won't be quitting yet, because I want to get my moneys worth, but the game is very dry right now. It's really disappointing how incomplete the game feels at higher levels. I'm not really sure how complete the end game is either, I've seen some 80s farming mid-50 instances for gear.

I already explained why it's like that at those levels. Hopefully they fix it. Just looking at the map there's obviously quite a bit of lvl 80 content, though one can't really expect the raiding and siegeing to really kick in till more than 1% of people are 80...
Also there's meant to be a whole bunch more gear being itemised in the next week or two.

yeah, me and stern were partied up today :p

I got to 32 tonight... it seems to me that most of the quests at this level are for groups instead of being able to solo them. Not sure if that's good or bad, but I'm thinking there should be more solo-able quests.

There are more solo quests for that level in the Stygian and Aquilonian zones.
 
is it just me or is the travel system in this game absolutely atrocious?
i am only level 21 mind you

Yep. I'll look around when I go back to playing with that character. Right now I'm making a few alt's to try out the different classes.

I must admit I've never really gotten the point of the something awful crowd. They rag on pretty much anything that people are trying to do on the internet because 'People shouldn't take it seriously'. But half the time it seems they take the ragging way to seriously. It's one thing to have some fun and piss some people off in a game for a bit, it's another thing entirely to start publishing their personal details and harassing them in real life (and those situations have occurred). what's so offensive to SA about people doing what they want in their spare time? It's the sort of mindless mob mentality that leads to situations like that Goth girl getting kicked to death a while back because she 'looked different' by that bunch of chavs. God forbid people might want to use the internets for fun and self expression. It's not like SA are using the internet for any constructive purpose either.
