Age of Conan Impressions!

I hope they fix some balancing issues with the PoM and ToS being too strong soon.

Also, I'm gonna make a barbarian that I'm gonna get to 22 then just play with you stern so we can quest together (albeit at your slow pace :p )

got up to lvl 9 right now. Gonna give it a rest for awhile while I play some guitar.

I had about 3 hours game time last night ;(

most likely around 10 pm or so ..barring anything I may have to do
 
sadly I don't think I'll be catching up tonight, prolly by tomorrow night though.

I'm finally going to get this today. One question though, which class is the equivalent of a DPS warrior in wow? Conquerer?

Generally any warrior class i think. Also the priest classes do a hell of a lot of damage.

Conqueror might be closest, but all warriors can do decent dps, esp if they have someone else in their group tanking.
Barbarian is kinda like a cross between dps warrior and combat rogue.

Yeah, I've been debating between a Barbarian and Tempest of Set. I hear the ToS is OP like hell, which is awesome.
 
Does this game take ridiculously long to install? I started about 40 minutes ago and I've been sitting on "intro-es.bik" for about 30 minutes now. Effin ridiculous.

It took me like 2 hours to install on my old comp :(

New parts come next week though. Can't wait to turn everything up to high :D

EDIT:

ToS's are faster levelers than many classes because of aoes and healing. I'm leveling with a friend that rolled a PoM...and they're even better than ToS. He gets a 10 second invulnerability spell to pull him out of tight spots and a very high damage lance spell.

As for pvp, sure, we're good when idiots jump us while we're fighting mobs with our aoes and hots up...but that's the attacker's fault for attacking us while we have all our damage pumping out. We get owned by rangers and other burst damage classes. I don't know what class he was, but an equal lvl melee class charged me and two-shotted me from 2k hp before I could even target him and cast my instant stun. Apart from that stun, I don't have shit to chase anybody down and keep a fight going. People can usually just easily run from me in pvp.
 
Well, although I'm not out of Tortage yet (Thank you very much real world!) I've really been enjoying it. Currently a level 17 Stygian Ranger, the quests are great fun, story thus far is great and the graphics are better than what I was expecting.

Just another 3 levels and I can really see what all the hype is about and catch up with some friends :)

I think my install took very little time. Maybe like 10/20 minutes.
 
I can't seem to find this information anywhere so I'll just ask here. How much is the monthly fee?

edit - sorry, found it, I'll wait for a free trial
 
Someone let me know when there are private servers for this. I can't stand paying monthly for an MMO.

Well the truth is I don't pay for hardly any PC games. MMO's especially. WoW for instance is raking in millions per month in subscriptions alone. I understand they have server costs but I'm sure they are making tons.

Nah, that's not how a business works. I'm just saying I won't be one to pay. If I had a lot of money to blow, I'd sign up for sure.
 
But the costs are not just server costs. They got staff to pay, other things to maintain, money will get channelled for advertising,making new games and expansion packs and maybe expanding the business.

insane specs? come on, it played at medium settings on my 7800gt, amd x2 4200, 2g ram ..I upgraded to a 8800gt and another g of ram which you can buy now for $150 + $30 for ram
 
you can buy 500G hd for $80 ..that's 16 cents per G

But unfortunately the nearest computer hardware store is all the way in Boston... that's about an hour and a half's drive from here.
I just don't have the gas and money to spare to get there, atm.

Mostly all blue prints and games that I regularly play.
It's a small 80gb hd.
