Im about to buy a new computer (as many of you may already know =)
and im curious about which air cooling flens you would recommend to me.. and im about to overklock my CPU in the future so its gotta be good (but rather cheap =)

Zalman rocks. Are you going AMD or Intel? Then I can make a more specific suggestion.

Get a SLK800U or a SLK900 for a heatsink and if you want the ultimate Fan get a Vantec tornado but i must warn you that its Very loud and that you would need a fan controller to slow that thing down. check out www.overclockers.com or goto www.newegg.com and look through the fans.

As far as fan brands go I would recomend Panaflo by Panasonic. In my opinion they give the best cfm to db ratio. Also if you decide to go with a SLK900 you might want to make sure it will fit on your motherboard without modification.

Oh yeah www.newegg.com doesn't ship overseas.

he said its gotta be cheap.
a slk and a tornado would be like 60 bucks

just get a 20 dollar vatec aeroflow.
top fan for that price range, it will do fine, and its no too loud.

anybody that know where i could get a Vatec Aeroflow (i live in sweden)

definetly Zalman, got my fan yesterday 7000Cu or sumthin, gd value, quiet and keeps my P4 3ghz at 35c

:bounce:

I would get a Thermaltake SLK style heatsink...you can get the older models for 20$ USD maybe lower. Just slap a 80mm fan on there, Panaflo are great but any decent fan will work.

Go for the zalman 7000Cu. It cools about the same as a SLK900U, if even cooler, and it is silent, reallllly silent.

the zalman is horrible for overclocking
it even says on it its not responsible for damage caused by overclocking.

Im thinking tahts the reason why people can hit 3.6ghz from a 2.4c with the zalman???

i have an athlon 2800+ with a vantec aeroflow and im at 34c....i dont know if they make the aeroflow for intel though...

Yeah there is an intel version.

Here is a huge list.
For sweden you can look at the UK stores. Its a pretty common cooler, a local shop may have it.

a stock HSF can get to 3.4
the [zalman] heatsink is meant for quiet PCs, not overclocking. Its got warnings not to overclock with it http://www.zalman.co.kr/english/intro.htm

he also wanted something cheap.

dont just recommend the most expensive, and therefor must be the best thing, and call yourself a hardware pro.

a 20 dollar volcano 7 cools better then it.
the 20 dollar aeroflow is the best 'bang for your buck' deal and does its job well (better than the zalman) and for cheaper.

yeah man i know the SLKs are good, im just talking about preformance for price.
whatever though sorry for being a bitch about it, ive had a few beers and im dead tired today
