Alien Swarm?

He was replying to the content of your post when he called you a moron. I haven't gotten to play this much but I tend to like playing medics in games.

The quotation sure emphasized something else.

Still, I do apologize for having a differing opinion.

God I love how people fling around the word "opinion" on this board like it's a get out of brain free card.

Maybe you should go back and actually read the quote. It has nothing to do with your opinion whatsoever. It has to do with your apathy about using the wrong word. Instead of learning, you're effectively saying "Derp, I don't care if I'm wrong, that's my right."

My apathy? So did you expect me to write a paragraph about my realization of my misuse of the word irony?

How about the fact that instead of pointing out what you don't concede with, you effectively said "Derp, you're a moron, you need to take internet more seriously".

Still, I don't actually see my misuse of the word irony (nor do I care because none of this is even my point). Like I said, in my games most people don't play medics but we all need them. Obviously, that is some highly controversial remark that calling it an opinion would be on par with saying something inane and then calling it an opinion.

This thread just went youtube comment

Oh I do apologize for my misuse of the word irony.

Now should we discuss the English of every post or should we discuss the content of the post?
Well typically the usation of superb Englishes quite oftentimes engenderates actual standing under of the thingses your desiring to conveyor.

I don't know about superb, but I like Olde English. Well, I did, back in the 1900s.

there is already a thread about it. too bad, it's nothing special.

Has anyone tried this as a FPS? I'm going to take a stab at this (plus I want the TF2 hat).

Or how about just "whoops that's not what I meant."

WHAT IS SO HARD ABOUT ADMITTING YOU ARE WRONG ON THE INTERNET. F*CK.

Anyway sorry for taking it so seriously, bro. Please resume being totally chill etc.

I just got all the speedrun achievements. :D
It took six hours but we did it ._.

Posted 3 screenshots in post #71.

EDIT: Oh, I see you linked to a video, so you know how it looks like. Anyway, it feels like it's not meant to be an FPS and there are some bugs - for example when you shoot the secondary grenade on the vindicator using the FPS controls, it fires in an awkward direction. And there's the fact that you cannot see what's behind you unless you turn around.

Kind of disappointed to see that the cap is at the awkward level of 27.

Just got it, but I have yet to install to my comp... So how is the matchmaking?

Also, can you import stuff from the game to Garry's Mod?

I wasnt expecting much from this, but I really enjoyed it. Well worth your time, especially since its free.

Matchmaking is exactly the same as L4D2. Decent amount of people playing, though, so it works fine. Just uhh... do everyone else a favour and try the offline practice before you jump in. Nothing more irritating than a level 1 filling the last slot in your game and being like "how i play?!?"

Not sure about your second question, but wouldn't that have to be modded in to let you select the items from a menu? Might be doable with a server side fix... mind you I'm really not sure of the ins and outs of gmod.

I admit I'm wrong often around here, but to be honest I didn't see where my mistake was, but at the same time I couldn't care less because it's not important.

Still, I'm looking forward for the future installments of Alien Swarm. This game has a lot of potential, especially with the random slowmotion and third person cameras. All they need is a little more of everything plus the A.I director and balanced weapons and the game is good to go for 20-30$.

AGH.

It kind of sucks. I never went looking for games on L4D or 2 because I was always joining with friends, but Alien Swarm seems to have frequently long periods where you just can't connect to anyone.

Thanks! The reason I asked was because I'm going to get GMod soon after, so yeah.

I honestly don't see how I misused the word irony.

So I'm kindly asking you to point out my mistake with the usage of irony, and I will gladly admit I made a mistake if it is bothering you. This is bringing about replies not pertinent to Alien Swarm and posts like "AGH" or "What a moron" only contributes to more flaming posts/digression. So let's just wrap it up and move on.

On topic, does anyone how/where I could determine the ping and difficulty of a server? openserverbrowser only indicates the ping and map.

Irony is usually requires the result to be the opposite to be ironic.

You said that playing medic was boring, but compared the fact that it's pretty much essential to have one.

What would have been ironic would have been if the medic was boring but they named the class "super fun happy class".

I think the reason they pointed it out is because a lot of people use the word ironic without a clue what it means or is supposed to function as.

Ironically, medics are the most important class of the entire game. You can't do without one on the team.

1 : a pretense of ignorance and of willingness to learn from another assumed in order to make the other's false conceptions conspicuous by adroit questioning —called also Socratic irony
2 a : the use of words to express something other than and especially the opposite of the literal meaning b : a usually humorous or sardonic literary style or form characterized by irony c : an ironic expression or utterance
3 a (1) : incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result (2) : an event or result marked by such incongruity b : incongruity between a situation developed in a drama and the accompanying words or actions that is understood by the audience but not by the characters in the play —called also dramatic irony, tragic irony

I'm assuming the bold and underlined definition is the kind of irony you were going for. It falls flat though when your assumption that medic classes are generally unnecessary turns out to be false in most cases. In almost every game where there is a medic class, you need to utilize them.

And the reason for the "UHG" and "what a moron" comments is that you're saying correct usage of the English language isn't important. Which, again, is an incorrect assumption on your part.

Nooooo! It doesn't work because of this computer's ****ed up video card drivers! **** this ****ing computer goddamn monkey shits!

Oh man this derail is such a MASTERPIECE of stupidity.

The post above you claims I used irony incorrectly, but your definition from whatever source states that I am correct.....

And no, I did not say medics were useless, that is way way off anything I've said. I said in my opinion the medics in this game are boring, yet we all need them, hence the reason I said it was ironic. Just like how people hate cops, but we all need them.

Also, I did not say the correct usage of English language isn't important, that is another false assumption. In fact, there are so many misconceptions about everything I said. I never said I won't admit I'm wrong IF I'm wrong. However, when Eejit asked me how what I said was ironic, I did reinforce my point, and I also did say I don't care whether I'm wrong. The sole reason being we're simply going to argue about which use of irony is correct (since I'm not admitting my misuse of irony), and that itself will derail the whole thread like what is happening now (and what I was trying to avoid..). So to be frank, your assumption of what I said is completely off. I do care for the proper use of language, but pulling off a youtube on a thread is more annoying than slight misuse of English.

That's... not ironic. Not by any definition of the word, including the ones that have already been posted. Krynn's bolded definition specifies an incongruity between an event and it's expected result. Your example includes neither of those things, and as has been pointed out, medics being boring to play has no bearing on their usefulness, so there is no incongruity. If anything, it's just an amusing observation.

Anyway, pretty sure no one is disputing the various and apparently divisive definitions of the word, we're just saying... that's not it.

I constantly meet people who think ironic and sarcastic is the same thing, it's annoying as ****.

Irony.

Shut up about goddamn irony.

Post about Alien Swarm.

Or I'll do horrible, horrible things.

irony is when the oposite of what everyone guess will happen, happens

I particularly enjoy the level where you kill the bug-like alien guys from an isometric perspective with a perfectly well rounded rag-tag Hax dude, killshit dude and Healdude

This game needs a reskin, I'd like to play as Diddy Kong and shoot up teddy bears with fluff flying everywhere. Medics become tailors, techs become concerned parents and grunts overly jubilant and recklessly playful chubby kids!

"The most aptly named shooter of 2010" Here's a product that truly delivers; within moments of joining a game I did, much to my awestruck horror and disbelief, encounter a swarm of aliens.

-A Demon, hl2.net *10/10*, two mangy, gnarled black-nailed digits WAY up. Would buy (download) again.
