Am I the only one whose "iffy" about STALKER?

Sorry pat_thetic, its just when I watch the videos and someone dies they fall in a "forced position" meaning they wouldn't fall that way in real life and their kinda stiff when they hit the ground. Everything else I've seen phyics wise is amazing and it definately has the best lighting etc. I've ever seen in a game.

I'm definitely on the iffy side and I have been for a long time. It's not tech tricks that make a game but good writing and design. Maybe we haven't been shown much yet but an RPG set in one location with no variety, no interesting characters/dialogue, no original gameplay elements, etc... just doesn't really interest me.

Yeah guys! I'd rather agree with you although i feel some proudness for our Ukrainian brothers!! It's not just a game, it's a reminder of a great desaster of all mankind!! A Chernobyl tragedy forever changed human existance!!
Graphic looks so nice! Atmosphere is great! I know it because i live there, or at least there. And whatever you feel about AI, animation, physics, ets. well
that guys anyway did a great job even if they didn't use HAVOK or a good engine!!! (Remember that Quake engine gave birth to a Half-life.)
Well noone can challenge to such a monsters as ID & VALVE!!!!1 WARRRRRRRGGGG!!!

Does anybody else get the feeling that STALKER wont be as good as people are building it up to be? Don't get me wrong, i know the game has really good graphics and physics that are equal to HL2's (That physics demonstration video is great) but does anyone else think its gonna be a let down in the gameplay department?

I love it when RPG is combined with FPS (Deus Ex, System Shock 2) but the thing i hate about normal RPG's is walking around for 10 minutes to an hour just to find another bad guy or crazy animal to kill. And with the truly massive environments in STALKER it looks like you'll be doing ALOT of walking around. And i just hope there's a good story to go with it. They've got a writer with good credentials but i'm still a little "iffy".

I hope STALKER turns out to be a little like Zelda: OoT in the RPG department, even though it isnt really an RPG, just lemme explain why i hope so. In OoT you went to different temples and area's and collected the Tri-Force and those medallions and it was good, it was all balanced out, because it had all these side-quests and people you could meet and shit to do. I really hope it's like that.

Anyway, enough rambling. I really hope this game comes through. Its just that these guys have made games in the past that haven't been too good, i just hope this one turns out good.

I think it'll be a decent game but nothing special, a bit like Far Cry. It'll probably deserve about a 72/100, but the mags will probably give it an 83.
