Scanner 1 was talking about refueling generators 5 minutes ago.
Nothing since then. :hmph:

Marshall law, I heard. All bets are off now. I'm with the armed forces. I'd like to think they'd ask before they shot, but I wouldn't want to be one of the cretins that was taking shots at the choppers when the National Guard comes through town.

I heard that as well.

He said afterwards that he wasn't basing it on any official figures.

Me on another forum

The American response to this has been ****ing stupid. I've been listening to Radio Five Live and getting more and more angry about this. Like Oldagerocker said there's thousands of people in the baseball stadium and a headcopter visits them three times a day. It doesn't even land, and people end up fighting over the supplies. So young men get it and there're pregnant women and old people from Nursing homes who get nothing.

The head of FEMA should resign. No question about it. It's ridiculous that even now there aren't any troops or anything at the Stadium (Thingydrome) . There isn't anyone giving instructions to people at the stadium. There aren't any officlals there what so ever. People keep on coming and asking the BBC reporters what to do and the BBC reporters don't know because they haven't been told anything. The Mayor of New Orleans is pretty pissed off, and understandably so.

In fact, this is one thing that I think Bush should really apologise for. It's ****ing inexcusable.

I've heard at least one angry reporter on the radio today, pissed off about the entire situation.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/networks/fivelive/aod.shtml?fivelive/drive_fri#

Listen to the live reporter after about 11 minutes. He sounds pissed off. If you listen earlier you can also hear the Mayor of New Orleans.

Why dont people Listen to those who speak sense, That Mayor deserves a Medal at the very least.

There was a faster reaction to the Tsunami and most other natural disasters in recent times then there was to this one. Its what 3 days later and only now the Relief effort is getting into swing.Thats messed up. Hell by the third day following the Tsunami there was more aid getting into a Much Larger area then there is getting inot New Orleans.

Christ had the US asked they'd have probly gotten Aid from Europe and the rest of the world faster then the Offical American responce.

a Canadian destroyer and 2 frigates (with med-evac units, helicoptors, supplies etc) are waiting in halifax for the US to say "we need your help"

I heard they are finally beginning to accept foreign help.

Aye,Plus Im sure it would take what,A whole 3-5 Hours to fly Aid in from Canada aswell.
The US military can fly a Cruise Missile through a Window in a Country thousands of Miles away but it cant Organise a Relief effort in its own Borders. To Paraphrase a Comedian I heard Once,Why dont they rework the Cruise Missile tech to fire food Into peoples mouths.

Or at the very least Air Drop in Supplies.

I dont know ..I heard this not 2 hours ago ..and the canadian government hadnt gotten the go ahead yet

Are any of you actually there? (Obviously not now because you wouldn't be browsing hl2.net, but you know what I mean)

I hate all of your opinions unless you are actually witnessing it yourself. :|

No Im not there. But the mayor of New Orleans is and he's Pissed at the Responce. If I was in New Orleans Id be Pissed because its taken the Worlds Premier Super Power More then 3 Days to Organise a proper responce to something they had a few days warning about.
They knew the Hurricane was gonna hit in these States.
They knew(As another thread Had Stated) that the Levee's were dangerously Weak and that it was what,The Third most likely Natural Disaster to occur in the US.
And for the last 3 days nothing bar talking and farting about has happened and now a Major City in America could be likened to a Post Apocolyptic Warzone.

So no My Opinions dont mean shite,Im not there, not hiding in Neck Deep water in my Attic praying to hear the Sound of a Helicoptor Overhead. Im not
cowering in the Superdome with Frustrated and Angry Mobs inside and outside but For **** Sake I can still be Pissed about it.

What? Seriously.

Voodoo, argh, The Capital Letters. :x

None of you actually know anything more than what the useless biased news says. And I do believe that this is one of the biggest natural disasters to hit the USA, and, I would assume, its pretty ****ing hard to do anything to help anyone. I was mostly referring to CptStern's completely predictable response of "BUSH ARE DUMB! DOWN WITH BUSH!" Stop bitching about things you don't know shit about. News coverage doesn't mean jack shit. I think its pathetic how people think they can argue about how terrible things are by reading some CNN article.

And no, I don't live there. Maybe all of this could have been completely avoided by some godsend President (Kerry could've, I KNOW IT!). But all this forum seems to do is bitch about how everything the government does is completely ludicrously moronic. Three years from now, you'll just be bitching about some other President. It's just annoying.

And Voodoo, if you want anyone to take you seriously, use normal English punctuation and capitalization.

Yuri: what about Mayor Nagin? Surely his reports are a pretty reliable source?

I dont know shit about? I know more than most people when it comes to politics. I have every right to comment on this. You barely even make a ripple in the politics forum ..dont be telling me what I can and cant comment on. Mind your own ****ing business. Some people here are really starting to get on my nerves

Right, you know me Yuri. Hopefully you'll know that I'm not straight anti-Bush.. I'm sure that CptStern or No Limit would back me up on that. The BBC is an independant organisation that is neither pro-Bush or anti-Bush because it's not American. But, obviously, I can only comment on what I've heard on radio Five Live over the last few days.

If you listen to the link I posted (About 11 minutes in) you can hear a reporter who is actually in New Orleans commenting on something he's experiencing. He's sounded completed shocked at what was going on. This isn't a biased view. This is a foreign journalist reporting from an outsider point of view.
