National guard is getting there in large numbers now to some of the places like the convention center. They need to get to other parts of the city and things basically just broke down.

Relief efforts could have been faster but hind sight is always 20/20, it started out as a category 1 in Florida, reached 5 when it hit New Orleans, hard to predict things and such, so national guard are not ready to just instantly mobilize to a city.

It's not really anyone's fault but the breakdown of New Orleans local itself (which is not the members of New Orleans local administration either, just the massive disorder caused it), and the time it took for the NG to actually mobilize from a state of relative calm. It's not an issue of enough troops or anything like that, 40,000 in the region itself just for NG right now, the problem was actually getting everything mobilized.

Bad stuff, haven't heard if my aunt and cousins have made it to an evacuation point or what yet. As far as I know they're still in the city, glad we got a hold of them yesterday though.

But hey, I'll admit, the only way that Katrina hurt me was by making me pay almost twice as much for a tank of gas. But I'm not complaining. Actually, Stern, you need to take things less seriously. I like you, you're a cool member and you say cool things, definately a forum legend. But its ****ing annoying when you poke your head into every goddamn ****ing thread in this forum and say "BUSH SUCKS SO DOES AMERICA." There are plenty of times where you're permitted to say that. Just not every single post of your 11,000+. Sorry I'm getting on your nerves but every time you post how much America sucks, you get on mine. Honestly, I am sorry for my brashness.

And Feath, my personal opinion on news is that its all biased. What better way is there to get viewers? But then again, news is the only real way to get news. And of course it is going to be crazy and its going to be anarchy. A city was just levelled. But I don't think blaming people is going to help jack shit. Everyone likes to complain and bitch about something but never do anything about it.

again you're missing my point ..my statement was political in nature, it was based on facts, you attacked the tone of the message but not the message itself ..I was reflecting on the fact that you werent following my train of thought ...this isnt the only thread on this issue ..we've discussed other aspects of the issues, some happened to be political in nature ..my post was just an extension of what we had already discussed yet still pertained to the thread topic

well you're not looking too hard because not 2 posts above your first post in this thread I made a comment that canada was waiting to send help to the US ...had I been america bashing I wouldnt have mentioned that my country wants to help your country ...I also disagree whole heartedly that the bulk of my 12 k + posts are anti-bush in nature ..most of the threads I start have nothing to do with bush or the war ..it just seems that way because you disagree with my POV ..there's plenty of right wingers here who post nothing outside of the politics or off topic forum ..and almost all their posts are supportive of their ideology ..you cant accuse me of being single minded while ignoring them

which doesn't refer to much politics which make sense. Seeing as how it would take a LONG ASS time to get troops from combat in Iraq to New Orleans, and pose many possible threats. No, actually, the problem is that the National Guard, which had many in Louisiana, didn't respond fast enough to the tradgedy.

Although, looking back, the national government's response to New Orleans seems pretty dumb. But then again, I don't really know.
